That artwork is gorgeous! And I'm absolutely eagerly waiting for what kind of challenge you come up with... [face_mischief]

One question: Do you list challenge responses, too? Meaning responses to other challenges.

Oooo! Look, an interview with canadianjedimama

Tell us a bit about yourself?

My name is Cynthia, but my friends call me Cyn and my family calls me CeCe. I'll be the big 3-0 in a few months and I've been married for 7 years and have a 3 year old daughter. I'm a CT and Angiography tech at a large acute care hospital and it's a job I love. My husband is a paramedic and between the two of us, our dinner table conversation is usually quite....exotic. If anyone ever needs a gross medical story as a conversation starter for a party, I'm your girl.

How long have you been a Star Wars fan?

Is forever an answer? LOL The first clear memory I have of Star Wars is being 5 years old and having my babysitter put in a video that she thought we'd (my brother and I) like. It was A New Hope, and I was hooked. I was in LOVE with Luke Skywalker and I wanted to be Princess Leia. The next Friday she brought the Empire Strikes back. When ROTJ came out, then that too was mixed into our Friday night movies. Babysitter Kim, wherever you are, thank you for introducing me to one of the loves of my life.

Fast forward to 1993. The boy I was dating at the time brought me a book he thought I'd like to read. It was Tim Zahn's Heir To The Empire. I almost died of shock! Star Wars HAD continued on in book form. AND I was TWO years behind the times! I immediately set about to find any other EU gems I had missed in the meantime. And as my bookcase can attest to, I haven't let up since.

What brought you to the boards at the beginning of the year?

I have a confession to make. I've been lurking since June 2007. On the Jaina/Jag index to boot. *blushes madly* I was too shy to say hi. But I don't have that problem now. *laughs*

Basically, I came in search of good quality fiction that included my favourite characters Jaina Solo and Jagged Fel. I have other pairs that I like to read/ship (Luke & Mara, Anakin/Vader & Padme), but Jaina & Jag are my absolute favourite. Hands down, any day of the week.

Imagine my utter fangirlish delight when I found the J/J Index. Some of the stories on there are well above the caliber of what's being published now, and it introduced me to certain authors that I ALWAYS keep an eye out for. And reading so much fic inspired a few plot bunnies of my own. I finally got my nerve up to post just this past January.

I took awhile longer for me to venture out the main boards. I mostly haunt Beyond the Saga, Saga, Lit and EUC. But I have been known to lurk just about anywhere.

What is your favourite EU book and why?

Revenge of The Sith novelization, hands down. Stover took the ROTS script and flesh out a true Star Wars story. It really is a magnificent piece of artwork. I was honestly disappointed in the film. I felt, as I'm sure many did, as if Anakin's story was rushed and missing pieces. Matt Stover filled them in with stunning detail. I was ticked that Lucas killed off Padmé (being a new mother myself I couldn't fathom how you could leave your baby like that), but when I actually read the scene in the novel, I cried. I finally understood the depth of the poor girl's plight. Betrayed physically, emotionally and spiritually by the one person whose supposed to love you unconditionally. There was literally nothing left of her or to her. The whole book was filled with these incredible scenes and realizations. The entire novel was a true work of art. IMHO, of course.

So do you think literature/writing is generally a more powerful medium to convey a story? Or was this just an instance where the author did a better job than the movie?

Is the pen mightier than the movie camera? In the case of ROTS, definitely yes. Granted, the novelization was written from the screen play, which were George Lucas's ideas. But the film came off as disjointed. The parts where he faded away to the next scene could have been better served by staying with it for another 30 or 60 seconds.
In the novel, Stover had the ab

    Index News

The J/J index is sad to announce the departure of BigFatty, who will be stepping down from the index, and NYCitygurl, who will be stepping down from being an active indexer and will be maintaining the review section. This means that two indexing positions have opened up. If you're interested, contact TKeira_Lea.

Position One: This person will search the Beyond board and Fan Art for J/J stories and art and maintain the J/J Index photobucket account. All questions about the position should be directed to BigFatty.

Position Two: This person will do the monthly index updates and add all stories and art to the index. All questions about the position should be directed to NYCitygurl.
