    Why was he dressed up as some sort of priest? I found that really strange. If some one could help me that would be great.

    Probably because he's a bit fanatical and stupidly thinks that if he dresses like a Jewish high Priest or something, he'll be able to harness the power of God for himself. Too bad he didn't read the part about how humans aren't even supposed to touch the ark :p
