Speculation Ben Mendelsohn's Character is Wullf Yularen

So this is an interesting theory that I have conceived. The two characters do look alike in terms of their physical appearance and uniforms:






The two have similar mannerisms from the very limited footage we have of Ben Mendelsohn's character (BMC). It can also be inferred that BMC was heavily involved in the death star, judging by the image above and the fact he stars in Rogue One- similar to Yularen who was a key personnel onboard the Death Star.

One key difference is the imperial rank insignia plaque between the two individuals. However, this can be easily explained and can be used as evidence to support this theory instead. Wullf Yularen was an admiral whilst serving under the republic. BMC can also be inferred as being an admiral due to his rank insignia badge matching that of high admiral within the empire. Even though Wullf Yularen, during his service in the republic, had a different style of plaque; the empire did inevitably changed the ranking and style of plaques (canon). Then finally during A New Hope, Wullf Yularen may have got a promotion to colonel, perhaps after the events of Rogue One. This would make sense and and has high levels of consistency.

Overall, I think this would be a nice idea. It would be great to further develop a character that had little value in ANH but a larger role in TCW. It would also create a nice tie in to the OT as well as the prequels and TCW.

The uniform is not that unique or individual, there have been at least two other officers (next to "Yularen") wearing it in ANH.
