yes and saw gerrera went through an eye color change between RO and sw rebels, again reminding us of the over-abundance of blue eyes in the cartoons.

i mean i agree though that DJ seems all jaded and dark-ish and dangerous (like maybe someone who used to be cardinal) and it's difficult to imagine someone like ezra becoming DJ. i guess it's because i don't think highly of ezra and see him becoming DJ because i think ezra is a simple person? but um luke is "very much changed" so perhaps ezra too can go through a "dramatic change." but DJ's lifestyle also seems like something ezra wouldn't choose?

 

while it would be 'cool', scar is on the wrong side and eye color give it away. Hey I think Ezra is Snoke(I make a long winded post in the Snoke thread)

 

Pablo confirmed that DJ is not Ezra. So that's pretty much that.

This is one of the strangest fan theories around, to be honest. Ezra is a major force user. His complete absence for the entirety of the Galactic Civil War and the 30 years afterwards, and his resurfacing as a hacker/ criminal with seemingly no force powers, just doesn't make much sense at all.

How, exactly, did this theory gain currency? I don't see any similarities between the two characters. Not one.

I suppose that's what's behind the speculation, but it's such a thin element to hang such an implausible theory on. Not least as Ezra strikes me as more Middle Eastern/ Levantine than Puerto Rican.

 

its actually not, he's also a cartoon, so there's wiggle room Sabine's father looks to be Latino or mixed race, look at her brother. Kanan can be anywhere from Italian heritage to of various mixed races. I'm pretty sure that was on purpose -not to hyjack this into a diversity post-we have a thread for that.


as a Dominican/Rican he looks very Rican or Dominican....we come in all colors, my Grandmother is Blond with Blue eyes one aunt as Red hair is a fair skinned, my Blond grandmother's mother is in Indian Rican of dark brown skin and straight black hair. I look like this:

Believe me, I get it. Half my extended family is Puerto Rican. Ezra just didn't strike me as looking at all like Benicio Del Toro (who's Rican). So the "Del Toro is brown just like Ezra, so they're probably the same person" theory struck me as borderline racist, as their faces look nothing alike. It's like saying Admiral Holdo is Mon Mothma because they're both white women. They look nothing alike.

 

Seeing similarities between characters isn't racist, it's seeing similarities.

i mean the scar could very well be some um call-back to ezra even if he's not ezra? cardinal and ezra were both orphaned and had to fend for themselves and eventually joined a cause... um.

he can be like an anti-ezra. he believed in nothing after his cause turned out to be a lie. ezra believed in nothing until he found a cause worth fighting for.

 

Can't wait for this guy to show up at a party scene behind a turntable and say, "This next song is called...Rey I am your father!" and then he drops the bass. That's why he's called DJ obviously.

Admittedly I've only watched the first two seasons of Rebels, but

sounds reminiscent of Ezra's first appearances.

I don't mind either way what Benicio's character's backstory is. I think it's cool he's in Star Wars. It's just weird that, if he isn't actually named onscreen, they would use the set/marketing nickname as the title of his comic book.

 

They're both male humans... coincidence?!

on one hand, it would be kind of cool if DJ is ezra, but on the other hand I really really really dislike ezra. Plus, ezra is about luke's age isn't he? Del toro does not look to be in the same age group as mark. Has anyone brought up this "drunk jedi" theory? I've only just heard about that. I'm hoping he's an actual sith.
