Yoda is the best of course, but who is the next best?

What do you mean by 'best,' exactly? Like most powerful?

My *favorite* Jedi is definitely Luke, and I also believe him to be very powerful.. I think he's one of the best Jedi because of the whole Darth Vader thing... He *believed* there was good, even after Kenobi and Yoda said otherwise. He refused to kill his father, and risked his life to save him, to bring him back from the Dark Side.

*Shrug* I guess I just always liked Luke! :)

This is impossible to answer without EU because a Purist answer would only be restricted to the films and would have no understanding of all the other Jedi outside of the Saga. :)

EU answer? Probably Arca Jeth or Kyp Durron.

Mace seems to be Yoda's right hand, so I'd say Mace.

Exar Kun was reported to be the most powerful jedi before he turned to the darkside and then started the sith war that was about 4000 year BBY

Anakin would have been, if he hadn't screwed it up.

Greatest? What has Mace Windu ever done for the Order?

Luke or Obi-Wan. They did something that was very[/i] significant.

Luke. He was instrumental in the final destruction of the Sith, he was exceptionally powerful, and he saved the Jedi Order from a permanent holiday.

    D'ar.

    ANAKIN SKYWALKER.

Brought balance to the Force. I don't think anyone else does that in the saga.

Not to mention being the only Jedi we've seen in the movies who falls to the Dark Side..and comes back.

Or giving his life so that the Rebellion can win.

Or saving the Jedi Order by saving his son.

You really can't measure greatness, but Darth Boba's got a good point. Anakin did even more than what we know Yoda did. And then there's opinion. I personally think Obi-Wan Kenobi. He was around through it all and took part in almost everything (except for finding Anakin, making decisions in the senate, blowing up the Death Star the second time, and killing Anakin- which IS a lot...). But he had to face so much. Plus, he vanishes when he dies. If Mace Windu is seen dead, then Obi-Wan is certainly up there.

Well besides Yoda, there was only one other Jedi who survied till ANH, Obi-Wan

Luke is also one the greatest, even if his skills aren't as good as Yoda and Obi-Wan, because of the things he did.

Luke is the greatest hero in the history of the Galaxy, and is also a Jedi. That should make the decision pretty easy.

And Luke didn't bring balance to the Force, thus ensuring it's continued existence. Not to mention Anakin did this and freed the galaxy from twenty years of brutal oppression. Next to that, Luke hasn't done squat.

Hint hint, Yoda is not the greatest jedi of all time-Luke is. Who brought back the Jedi order and managed to bring Vader, who was responsible for the Jedi Purge back to the light side, as well as involved in bringing down the Emperor? Who started the New Jedi Order? Luke. As far as I know, Yoda did not start the old Jedi Order. Thus, Luke is far more powerful and greater a jedi than Yoda, although Yoda is very noble.
