JCC Best Bananas

I just got a bunch of organic bananas that say they're from Mexico. They're still a little green, but man are they tasty! I think I'm in love with Mexican bananas.

Anybody else have a really good banana lately?

The modern commercial bananas are actually a distinctly inferior breed. When older generations discussed bananas, they are actually referring to a clonal seed strain that was destroyed by a prior plague. We have the ugly remnant.

Indeed. I have had good bananas in the smoothies I've had lately. I know the bananas are organic, but their place of origin remains a mystery.

Someone at work claimed that eating 12 bananas in a day would kill a man, due to the potassium content. Obviously, I felt compelled to do science by eating 13 in one sitting.

Sort of related question: myfitnesspal lists the calories in a "banana, without skin". Is there anyone who eats bananas with skin and if so, how many more calories does that add?

She's right that half the fun of some fruits is just preparing them. Mango and pomegranate are the definite leaders in that category.
