Since the con up here in Fargo seems to be predominantly for Trekkies or Xfiles fans, I'd like to find one that is more general. I've heard great things about several down in the Cities, just wanted to get some more feedback.

    So..Help!

Well, we've basically got 3 main cons during the year.

    Con of the North
    http://www.conofthenorth.org/
Feb 16-18, 2007 in St Paul.
It's basically a strict roll playing/gaming con, dealers room, & Minimaze.

    MarsCon
    http://marscon.org/2007/index.php
    March 2-4, 2007 in Bloomington.
It's an all-around Sci-Fi con. Panels, parties, guests of honor, dealers room.

    ConVergence
    http://www.convergence-con.org/
    July 6-8, 2007 in Bloomington.
Another all-around Sci-Fi con. Much bigger than Marscon. Parties, Panels, Anime movies, regular movies, lounges, guests of honor, maquerade, dealers room, and even some gaming.

Hope I was able to help you out with this info!

Thanks! I was strongly considering Convergance, plus a friend on another board(from the metro area) who is a fantasy author told me about Wiscon. What are you thoughts on Wiscon(if you've ever been?)

WisCon? I've actually never heard of it.

I haven't heard of that one either.

I think ConVergence is probably the largest scifi convention of the year in MN - although I've never been to Con of the North, so I can't say for sure.

Most people have never heard of CotN unless they roll play.
Only about 250-350 people show up, it's a smaller con.
