Who has the best death in the original trilogy? It doesn't have to be the most violent, it could even be the most emotional one. For me, its Vader/Anakin. He returns to his true self, saves Luke, only to die from his injuries, but is later seen next to Obi-Wan and Yoda. Sad, bittersweet, but happy as well.

I don't know if it counts as a "best death" but that Stormtropper Leia blasts in the chest at point blank range in cloud city is pretty cool. The poor guy never saw it coming. I always feel a little sorry for him. Poor TK blown away. :(

pilot who's ship got shot, then he went twirlling
into the super star destroyer in ROTJ was really
    cool.

Red Leader had a great death in ANH during the Battle of Yavin.

Hey up there I just lost my starboard engine. Set up for your attack run.

That was Green Leader Alvin Crynyd who crashed into the SSTD Bridge.

The guy who got knocked over the railing in the shield generator by Han Solo when he threw that bag at him. That scream he lets out is priceless!

I love the death of that Ewok. And his partner's mourning afterwards.

I would say Obi-wans death on the Death Star was the most emotional. Why? Because he sacrificed himself for Luke, Leia, Han, and Chewie.

Yoda's. It just seems so emotional... and peaceful, given that all he has been through.

I think the A-Wing pilot who plows into the Executor's bridge had the best death. That's the way to die, in a blaze of glory, ramming your damaged fighter craft into the enemy command ship and taking the whole thing down.

I just realized something. ESB is the darkest movie in the trilogy (hands down) yet it's the only one were we don't see a major charachter die . . interesting.

Now, returning to the subject of this thread . . I go with Obi Wan. It's so elegant, graceful, and jedi-like the way he puts his sword close to his face in order to sacrifice himself. gota love it!

I would say Biggs Darklighter had a "good" one. He was holding off three TIE fighters by himself.

TIE Pilot who slammed into an asteroid field. Or the stormtrooper who gets shot in the chest.

Oops, my earlier post was the wrong era :D

Anyways, for classic, I like the "Set for Stun" guy, who is promptly shot in the face with a pea-shooter pistol :D
There's a great Mimbanite comic about this.
