Best Delivered Line in the Saga

What do you think the best delivered line in the saga is?


I personaly think that it's:

Obi-Wan: Anakin, my allegiance is to the Republic! To democracy!


I think it was very very powerfully delivered.

 

"I'm afraid the deflector sheild will be quite operational when your friends arrive"

 

"I HATE YOU!!"

 

Hmmmm, there are a few I think. All of Yoda's lines of wisdom are incredibly done. As well, in RotS, Palpatine with his "I am the Senate" is one of my favouite lines in the saga.

 

"What yet! monsters out dere, leaking in here, all sinking and no power, when are yousa thinking wesa in trouble"

 

I:

"At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will
have revenge."
"I can't believe there is still slavery in the galaxy. The Republic's
anti-slavery laws..." (corniest line in the saga?)

II:

"Your mother's dead, son. Accept it."
"Die Jedi, Die"

III:

"I sense great fear in you, Skywalker."
"You were my brother, Anakin. I loved you."

IV:

"Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope"
"We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?"

V:

"That is why you fail"
"Laugh it up fuzzball"

VI:

"Young fool...only now, at the end, do you understand"
"It is against my nature to impersonate a deity"

 

Anakin (concerned): "Qui-Gonn, Sir, I don't wanna be a problem!"
Qui-Gonn (convincingly): "You won't be, Ani."

 

I think it has to be Obi-Wan's "You were my brother Anakin. I loved you." Excactly the right level of tragedy. Perfect acting.

Before ROTS I would have probably given it to something from Han in Empire... not sure what though... it's hard to remember back to those days now...

 

EP I: "At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have revenge."

EP II: "I want to go home and rethink my life..."

EP III: "You were the Chosen One! You were supposed to destroy the Sith, not join them! Bring balance to the Force, not leave it in darkness!!!"

EP IV: "The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant when compared to the power of the Force."

EP V: "I know."

EP VI: "Oh... I'm afraid the deflector shield will be quite operational by the time your friends arrive."

 

INTERIOR: GANTRY -- OUTSIDE CONTROL ROOM -- REACTOR SHAFT

Luke moves along the railing and up to the control room.
Vader lunges at him and Luke immediately raises his lit sword
to meet Vader's. Sparks fly as they duel, Vader gradually
forcing Luke backward toward the gantry.

VADER: You are beaten. It is useless to resist. Don't let yourself be
destroyed as Obi-Wan did.

Luke answers by rolling sideways and thrusting his sword at
Vader so viciously that he nicks Vader on the shoulder. The
black armor sparks and smokes and Vader seems to be hurt, but
immediately recovers.
Luke backs off along the narrow end of the gantry as Vader
comes at him, slashing at the young Jedi with his sword. Luke
makes a quick move around the instrument complex attached to
the end of the gantry. Vader's sword comes slashing down,
cutting the complex loose; it begins to fall, then is caught
by the rising wind and blown upward.
Luke glances at the instrument complex floating away. At
that instant, Vader's sword comes down across Luke's right
forearm, cutting off his hand and sending his sword flying.
In great pain, Luke squeezes his forearm under his left armpit
and moves back along the gantry to its extreme end. Vader
follows. The wind subsides. Luke holds on. There is nowhere
else to go.

VADER: There is no escape. Don't make me destroy you. You do not yet
realize your importance. You have only begun to discover you power.
Join me and I will complete your training. With our combined strength,
we can end this destructive conflict and bring order to the galaxy.

LUKE: I'll never join you!

VADER: If you only knew the power of the dark side. Obi-Wan never told
you what happened to your father.

LUKE: He told me enough! He told me you killed him.

VADER: No. I am your father.

Shocked, Luke looks at Vader in utter disbelief.

LUKE: No. No. That's not true! That's impossible!

VADER: Search your feelings. You know it to be true.

LUKE: No! No! No!

VADER: Luke. You can destroy the Emperor. He has foreseen this. It is
your destiny. Join me, and we can rule the galaxy as father and son.
Come with me. It's the only way.

Vader puts away his sword and holds his hand out to Luke.
A calm comes over Luke, and he makes a decision. In the
next instant he steps off the gantry platform into space. The
Dark Lord looks over the platform and sees Luke falling far
below. The wind begins to blow at Vader's cape and the torrent
finally forces him back, away from the edge. The wind soon
fades and the wounded Jedi begins to drop fast, unable to grab
onto anything to break his fall.

That's probably my favorite scene, and the lines are delivered really well.

 

"Never. I will never join you. You failed, Your Highness. I am a Jedi, like my father before me."

I get chills just thinking about that moment.

 

Yea that one ^ is awesome. all of obi wans during his fight with anakin are great. so is I am your father. but another great one no one mentioned is

'if you strike me down i will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine'

 

Attack, Kenobi!

The best.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to go with that. It makes me cry every time.

 

EP I: "Viceroy I don't want this stunted slime in my sight again!"

EP II: "Lost a planet Master Obi Wan has. How embarassing, how embarassing."

EP III: See my signature.

EP IV: "We will crush the rebellion with one swift stroke!"

EP V: "I am your father."

EP VI: "You've failed your highness. I'm a Jedi, like my father before me."

and we all know where that goes. Suited Vader quotes are always gold (minus the RotS).

That's really tough.

"Activate...ray shields!"

 

TPM: "Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to....suffering."

ANH: "A young Jedi named Darth Vader, who was a pupil of mine until he turned to evil, helped the Empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights. Vader was seduced by the Dark Side of the Force."

ESB: "No, I am your father."

ROTJ: "I'll never turn to the Dark Side. You've failed your highness, I am a Jedi, like my Father before me."

 

It's a TRAAAAAPPP!

 

The Phantom Menace: "And now they will elect a new Chancellor, a strong Chancellor..one who will not let our tragedy continue."

Attack of the Clones: "Master Kenobi, you disappoint me."

Revenge of the Sith: "Your new Empire?"

A New Hope: "I want to learn the ways of the Force and become a Jedi like my father."

The Empire Strikes Back: "Yes..he would be a useful asset."

Return of the Jedi: "You have failed, your highness. I am a Jedi, like my father before me."

I cannot give the entire saga "one line", but i can give it a few:

"And well you should not. For my ally in the Force. And a
powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. It's energy
surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we...(Yoda pinches
Luke's shoulder)...not this crude matter. (a sweeping gesture) You must
feel the Force around you. (gesturing) Here, between you...me...the
tree...the rock...everywhere! Yes, even between this land and that
ship!"

I can't decide which Palpatine/Sidious line is the best by film, but I'll give my two initial choices by OT and PT.

PT: "Welcome home, Lord Tyranus, you have done well." The way he says "Tyranus" is spot on.

OT: "Oh--I'm-afraid-the-deflector-shield-will-be-quite-operational-when-your-friends-arrive." (Smile) The pauses are as effective as the words.
