Of course, I liked Aliens, MIB, all the even numbered Treks (don't shoot me!), The Matrix trilogy, the LOTR trilogy, Full Metal Jacket, Platoon, all that normal stuff. But here are some of my favorites that did absolutely nada at the box office or were ignored by the cinenazis, and yet were some of the greatest, most important, or most touching films I've ever seen... ready?

The Passion of the Christ (actually sobbed at that one, obvious if you've seen it)
Antwone Fisher (actually cried at that one, as his life story unfolded)
Groundhog Day (multiple lumps in throat, especially toward the end as hero becomes real)
Gladiator (perseverance, divine justice)/ Ben Hur for same reasons
The Count of Monte Cristo (heroic restraint)
The Last Samurai (fallen mighty, restoration of honor)
The Great Santini (Pat Conroy's honesty)

Not necessarily in that order. Solid films that had important things to say and were completely ignored or dismissed or only had like 3 weeks in theatrical release.

There are a number of others, but these were the ones that came to mind.

I have a new favorite. It's bound to become a cult classic zombie film. It's called "Phone Friends" by the new director. What is her name? Trustle. Trist. Trissel! Yeah, that's it. Look out Gale Ann Hurd!

I can't believe I left out my favorite all-time non Star Wars Movie. JAWS!!! That movie is incredible. I also like almost every war movie except for the "Thin Red Line" that was terrible.

A movie that I thought was going to suck, but ended up loving is The Count of Monte Cristo. I thought they would ruin it, but they did a great job I thought.
Starship Troopers is also a good one. It has everything you could ever want in a movie!
