I've decided to hold a discussion on the most appropriate music for certain events, objects etc. to see what people can come up with. If you don't get what I mean, here's one to start you off.

    Best music for...sunsets.

I already know the 2 best answers, see what you all think.

And if you want to add a new musical topic, that's fine, but don't clutter the thread or interrupt any ongoing discussions that may be going on.

Do you mean Star Wars music? (as by the mandate of this forum)

Then the "Binary Sunset" cue is obvious answer #1...

"Cadillac of the Skies" from Empire of the Sun is very fitting for sunsets.

Well I meant all film music really. Sorry not to be that accurate.

My second answer (after the obvious, Binary Sunset) would be Escape/Chase/Saying Goodbye from E.T., particularly the flight, as they fly across a burning sunset which can be heard fantastically in the music.

Ok, I think we've covered that one. Next one:

    Best music for: fireworks

I know my favourite would be The Forest Battle Suite. What an ending!

Well, having seen fireworks whilst the Superman and Star Wars main themes are playing, I'd have to say them (epsecially The Throne Room)

And whaddya mean JW never comes to Britain? I saw him in conducting the LSO in Birmingham a couple of years back. It was amazing!

For fireworks, any of Williams' four Olympic themes ("Olympic Fanfare and Theme", "The Olympic Spirit", "Summon the Heroes" and "Call of the Champions") would be perfect.

Well my sig. is really just a pessemistic and exaggerated whine! But I wish he'd come and conduct the LSO again soon, maybe after this stint of films.

Anyway, these sound like good ideas for firewroks, but I watched loads of random fireworks from my bedroom window, because I can see for miles from there, and I had "The Magic of Hallowe'en" (from E.T.) playing. It fitted perfectly, and although there was no full moon, the spirit was captured in those moments.

Another Williams piece that would fit is Song for World Peace.

    Ok, so the next one.

It's a pretty obvious one, so I want a track and a track time too!

    Best music for bicycles.

    Hmmm.....

I'd have to say "Bicycle" or "Fat-Bottomed Girls", both by Queen.

The best music for driving anything would have to be either "The Asteroid Field" or "Hyperspace."

Although bike rides aren't really action packed.....

No? Ever tried riding a bike with the bicycle chase from Escape/Chase/Saying Goodbye (from E.T.) in your ear? It adds a whole new dimension to the piece, it really does. I know it sounds wierd, but trust me, if you're riding at speed it sounds absolutely great.

Since the E.T. track was already mentioned... I'll go with "Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra" from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Ok, best music for: sheer speed.

What's the absolute fastest music you can think of?

I'd say probably Mine Car Chase from Temple of Doom.

How about the best music for coming upon some sort of revelation, like discovering some galactic conspiracy, or solving the puzzle that proves that Emilia IS going sacrifice an entire town for her mad schemes.

Or something like that. Let's call it: Best Revelation Song/Track/Whatever.

For falling asleep?! You can't listen to JW music to fall asleep to. Believe me, I've tried it. But there's too much going on in his peices, it's much to interesting to fall asleep to!
