Lit Best order to read the Star Wars books?

    I love the films and would like to start reading the books (I don't care if they are EU or Canon books as long as they are good).

    I would like to start with books around the time and before the time of the prequels to learn more about the Jedi council, the Jedi code, The politics of the senate and the clone wars. I would prefer to read in chronological order.

    I would then like to move on to the original trilogy but for now you can only give me prequel books as to not waste your time.
