PT Best Sets of the PT

Some members here have mentioned how they liked the Naboo sets. As many are aware most are from Italy, Lake Como and the Palace of Caserta etc.

In Attack of the Clones the production went to Spain and for a few shots of Anakin and Padme's arrival on Naboo filmed at the Plaza de Espana in Seville (it was also used in Lawrence of Arabia). A massive real world set for a handful of shots showing the type of care that goes into creating the SW world:

Agreed. It is a fantastic spot in real life too, such a nice area to walk around. It also appears in The Dictator.

 

The senate, which absolutely blew my mind first time I saw it as a child, and, of course, the bridges of the Saak'ak, Vuutun Palaa, and Invisible Hand in eps I and III. It helps that they actually built part of those sets, but I love how sleek and austere they feel.

Looking at some of these other posts I did't realize how many sets the PT did have.

INT THEED - PALACE - DAY
QUEEN AMIDALA, SIO BIBBLE, and FIVE OF HER HANDMAIDENS (EIRTAE, YANE, PADME, RABE, SACHE) are surrounded by a half dozen DROIDS. CAPTAIN PANAKA and FOUR NABOO GUARDS are also with them as they are lead down stairs to the main floor. NUTE and RUNE are walking with the group.

 

Padme's veranda was a HIT! The view is breatktaking!

This is probably the best example of the use of real sets in the PT. They did not do any location shooting with the actors for ROTS(Obi-wan giving Luke to Beru and Owen was shoot during AOTC according to the Making of ROTS book). This is a set on a sound stage with a blue screen background so they could do a cgi set extension. If it was not for the fact that you can see the speeders and ships moving in the background it would be hard to say this was not a set with matte painting behind it.

 

I read that too, but in the book the picture looks totally different than the final scene.. I wacthed this scene closesly and in my opinion it is all CGI.. they have added Tatooine in post production.

Well, who can blame them... traveling to Tunisia again for a one minute shot? hehe

The most likely reshoot Ewan and baby Aiden Barton in blue screen as Obi-wans jedi attire does slighly change between episode 2 and episode 3(his undertunic goes from tan to brown, his beard is shapes different)but I imagine Owen and Beru was still what they shot in tunisia.

I think you're confusing sets with models...

 

While not technically a set, I love the Coruscant skyline. Especially seeing it while Obi-Wan & Anakin chase Zam Wesell.
