I like Slave I but it always bothered me that it didn't fly in the orientation it landed in.

Falcon gets the nod.

In general, the designs are great, the "used universe" was rather unique to sci-fi at the time, and the asymmetrical design was bold.

I'll always be fond of the design lineage that goes at least back as far as the Great War Old Republic with the "Liberator" starfighter and will wind up with the Z-95/ARC-170/X-Wing family.

 

The Falcon. Pure classic.
X-Wing Fighter. Always loved this ship as a kid.
Imperial Shuttle. Unique and sleek.

 

Another ship that I happen to like a lot:

 

The X-Wing, Star Destroyer, Slave 1, the Falcon, and Anakin and Obi-Wan's Jedi ships in ROTS.

I will always be a fanboy of the Victory class. Like an ISD...but better...

(In my opinion)

 

I posted Slave I earlier and recently my son, daughter, and I rewatched TCW season 2 Boba Fett arc. The sound of the ship is amazing, even better in AOTC. The chase scene with Slave I is hands down my favorite part of AOTC.

 

For me:

-Slave I
-J-type 327 Nubian

 

Star Destroyers are awesome, IMO, but the main problem, the main criticism with the ship, is the damn exposed bridge tower.

 

I'm partial to the Lucrehulk-class freighters; the first time I saw Episode I, I thought they were like mini-Death Stars. Nowadays, I appreciate them for their striking appearance and utility. I'm in awe that one core ship can hold 60000 Neimoidians, and how it even reflects the culture of the Neimoidian hierarchy in both function and design. Sure they made poor battleships, but that's like saying a 747 is bad for dogfighting.

Also, I may not be a fan of the Empire, but the Executor is pretty amazing!

 

The thing with the ISD/VSD/SSD bridge towers is simple. The Empire relies too much on the shields...if the shields go down, the ship is doomed anyway, so why bother with a sheltered bridge?



(note: I still think it isn't smart, but that explanation fits the Empire's thinking rather well )

As I said above, I like the whole industrial-look to the CIS ships. And with all those antennas and stuff coming out of the top of them, there's got to be at least a few collisions from the starfighters...

Always loved the Republic V-wing design. Looks so sick. But I like the Eta/Actis interceptor's style better...lol

 

PT-My favorite ship has to be the Eta-2 Interceptor.
Honorable mentions-Pretty much anything except the Jedi Starfighter from AOTC.
OT-X-Wings, A-Wings, Tie-Fighters and variants, Millenium Falcon, Slave 1, Star Destroyers and the Super Star Destroyer, and the Rebel Blockade Runners.

Best Ship Design....Hmmm, I really do like that Gungan Sub design....For my money though, I would give almost anything to hop in a X-wing and run down a death star trench.......
