Star Wars is said to be a master at visual storytelling.

What are the best single images of the entire movie saga (not sequences or gifs, just standalone shots)? Whether it's because it's a great image, or provokes some kind of thought or strong feeling by imagery alone, or is very classic or memorable, or is just an instance of great visual storytelling. Please post them here!

Also, please only post actual images from the movies, not promo or edited material.

    I'll start with these classics:

There's also no good image of it on the internet yet, but the last light of the sun fading while Han confronts Kylo Ren... who has a small ray of light on him, before falling into shadow... is such visual storytelling.

Also the reveal of Luke and offering of the lightsaber at the end.

Other good examples from TFA are:
-that shot of Rey speeding in front of a crashed Star Destroyer
-Kylo and Hux arguing before giant enthroned Snoke
-Hux giving his speech before the massive army
-Lor San Tekka walking through his village heartbroken as it burns all around him
    -Han hugging Leia
-the hand swiping blood on Finn's helmet
-the scene of Han, Rey, Finn with the stars of the galactic map
-Rey walking into the horizon with BB-8
-Rey reaching out her hand to Finn
-the Falcon flying through the clouds on Luke's planet
    -Kylo freezing the blaster bolt
-Kylo talking to the disfigured helmet of Darth Vader
-seeing the terror on the faces of people on Hosnian Prime as the red light burns brighter and closer
-the interrogation... with Rey in chains but leaning forward and confident, while Kylo is standing with his hand outreached but looking terrified
    -Rey catching the lighsaber
-the colors reflecting on Rey and Kylo near the end of their fight
-the divide opening between Kylo and Rey

You have to admit -- right? -- that Star Wars has some fantastic imagery in general.

Frame, after frame, after frame, after frame, after frame of it.

    I actually like that one.

    The light and blue contrast.

I feel this one is good for framing and not motion.

If I were to sum the entirety of Star Wars up in one screencap, it would be this one:
This is Star Wars one one screenshot. Light vs. Dark, good vs. gvil, Jedi vs. Sith, justice vs. revenge, youth vs. experience.

My favourite images are either this shot of light glinting through a building on Coruscant:

Or the sunset and the light descending from Palpatine's apartment building:

I really like the image of Yoda and Sdidious's duel, and how they toss the Pods, literally destroying the Senate and metaphorically democracy.

You can feel Luke's utter despair in this shot...

And this perfectly represents Han in the OT...

Many good and iconic images spring to mind, but I'll stick with the two prominent ones:

A setting full of promise, hope... and frustrated craving for adventure.

A hopeful end to an otherwise dreadful event... and a great way to spell out "to be continued" without words.

I really like the build-up to the battle of Naboo, some great shots there:

[IMG]I really like how quiet the siege is. The Gungans emerging through the mist with the marching music, and then lack of music once the droids arrive is really effective. Seeing the ATT's floating above (and ruffling!) the grass is a great shot. The siege on the shield is a very unique section, and no other battle in Star Wars is like it. With the tense waiting of the gungans, awaiting the inevitable battle.

And of course, I love how the Battle Droids twitch to life, and the last shot has and incredible level of detail, with dirt and scratches clearly evident.

Great thread. Lot of good ones in here!

Yoda and the Force. This was one of the first ones I thought of. Such a memorable and magical scene.

I want to add a bunch that aren't in here yet.

    Starting with ANH:

    A really nice introduction.

Everything about this scene is so memorable. It's central to the entire saga and sets up the story to come. Anakin and Vader, the Jedi, the Force, the dark side, the lightsaber, the last hope.

A powerful image and troubling answer to Luke's desperation from the binary sunset. During the sunset, he was facing away from his home and the only family he knew and would rather be anywhere else, but he didn't have a choice. Here he's facing the remains of his home and family, and now that all he has is gone, his only choice is to leave.

This is what Star Wars is about. I love how genuinely happy they are here. And then behind them, 3PO is worried about R2. What a stand-up droid.
