Argh, I can't remember the name! I think it was Secret Sam. It was made by Apogee, and it was shareware. Man, that was a long time ago, but it was an awesome game. I need to go find it somewhere.

Secret Agent. I played a similar game called Crystal Caves, which used the same engine.

I'm surprised no one has said Zone of the Enders. Yeah, it was a major title at its time, but no one gave it due credit. It was bashed for being too short and what not, but I loved it. The story was decent enough and the action was uber intense. Definitely a must play...too bad no one sells it any more...unless you buy it used like I did a few months back...

Bionic Commando for NES was great. I used to play it over and over.

I think the Power Stone series for the DC was great too. The DC itself was underrated. I do hope Capcom decides to continue the series with Power Stone 3.

The term "underrated" is so subjective, but let's give it a shot nonetheless:

    Bionic Commando (NES)
    Blaster Master (NES)
    River City Ransom (NES)
    Space Harrier (Master System)
    Zillion (Master System)
    Ghostbusters (Genesis)
    Fire Pro Wrestling D (Dreamcast)
    Maximo (PS2)

There are surely more than these, but these come to mind first for me.

There was a Ghostbusters game for the SEGA Genesis? Really? What was it like? I used to play the cheesy Ghostbusters game for the Commodore 64 when I was kid. Any similarity to that one?

I think it might have been the rip-off version, where one was Ghost Busters and the other was Ghostbusters. I remember the rip-off cartoon series.

The C64 and NES games were cheesy.

The Arcade Classics series for PS was one of the best innovations in gaming as far as I'm concerned.

As someone who grew up in the early-mid 1980's, there's a beautiful sense of nostalgia in old video games. I bought Arcade Classics when it came out on a Friday afternoon a few years ago and by Sunday, my flatmate and I were still playing, not having left the house in two days.

That's the mark of a good game.

I love the Tex Murphy series... sadly nobody else seems to like them.

    Under a Killing Moon

    The Pandora Directive

Overseer wasn't as good, but was okay.

Alpha Centauri -is- a good game... and it was the first game to introduce a lot of the new rules and conventions that ended up getting carried over to Civ 3.

Had a host of other neat features that weren't in any of the Civ games, too. Designing your own units is a pretty spiffy feature, for example.

My favorite under rated game would have to be Rocket Knight for the sega genesis. That was a great game! good times playing it. Then I loned it to my friend and to this day he hasn't given it back...I think he meant to steal it all along.

    Forcebewitya!

Antille: Lost Vikings is indeed great. I have played it and also have completed it. You don't need a ROM because it is also a pc game. There is a Lost Vikings II: Norse by Norsewest. I have played the demo of it (5 years ago??) and it seems good. For some reason Eric has a lightsaber and you can also control other characters in it.

    Return Fire(Playstation 1)

This game was and IMHO still is one of the best action games for Playstation,in it you could drive either a Tank,Jeep, or a very powerfull Armoured Transport, you could also fly a helicopter, the game was set on about 23 different islands and involved capturing the enemys flag, easier said than done especially with a limited supply of vehicles and fuel and weapons, it was alot of fun and PS2 should make a newer version of it only with more vehicles and planes to chose from and instead of just having capture the flag it should have combat missions on the side as well as multiplayer.

    Summoner (PS2)

That game was epic and had a great story and voice acting all though its graphics weren't the best for PS2.

Also it had a hilarious video you could access from the credits screen by pressing X, I think it was.
