Best Videogame Story

Ocarina of Time / Windwaker, brlliant.

 

KOTOR: it's, as Jim Carrey's Riddler would say, a joygasmic experience.

 

hmm OOT and Windwaker were pretty interesting.

But Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross are my favs so far

 

The only 2 videogames I've played that have had a great story would have to be KOTOR (mainly just the plot twist) and definately Final Fantasy 7.

 

Very nice Most definetly the greatest game of all time. Nothing else even comes close. And the new zelda game coming out is based on the style of gameplay from the ocarina of time, so we mave have a new best game(but doubt it.)

 

For me, it's a tie between Halo and KOTOR.

 

FF7

 

1. Xenosaga Ep.1 Awesome story. Hell, the game was practically nothing but story. The fact that it's nowhere near done with is even better.
2. KotOR This story is better than most Star Wars books. Great twists and great characters.
3. Xenogears The only reason this is at #3 instead of #1 is that it feels very incomplete towards the end. In fact, the developer said that it is. Also, the fact that it will be invalidated when Xenosaga Ep.5 comes out doesn't help either.
4. Final Fantasy X Even though Tidus is a whiney *****, this is by far the best story of any Final Fantasy. Some people would say that VII is the best, but I disagree. In fact, I would say VII is one of my least favorite FF stories. VII was great because of its awesome character design, incredible (for its time) visuals and gameplay system (materia rocks!), not its story, which, IMO, was somewhat shallow and not very well developed. Most folks have a sense of nostalgia towards VII because, for many, it was the first RPG they played. Let's face it, people, there are better FF stories out there.
5. Silent Hill 2 I picked 2 as my favorite, but really, all of the Silent Hill games have fantasic stories. Well, maybe 3 wasn't quite as good as the rest, but....whatever.
Honorable mention for best story in a fighting game: The Mortal Kombat series Yeah, it's cheesy. Yeah, with so many characters and endings and whatnot, it can be hard to follow what's really going on, but still, you can tell they put a lot of effort into fleshing out all of the characters' backstories. Good stuff.... for a fighting game, that is.

There are a lot more games that could easily crack my top 5 (the new GTA, for example), but I'll leave it as is. (And yes, I'm very bored right now. Hence, the long winded explanations. )

 

I would have to say KOTOR for its depth.

 

The Shenmue games or The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

 

Fallout Series - not only was it truly original, it kept you one your toes and always had something new and unique up its sleeve.

Half-Life deserves a mention becasue it was basically the first FPS to have a continuouis story, and every part of the game connected to the previous part.

 

KOTOR has a great story. RE1 & RE2 at the time they were released was great because they were the only games using the whole Genetic/Viral gimmick.

 

Up. Pacman has the best storyline.

KOTOR: It's just a brilliant, original Star Wars game.
Final Fantasy IX: I hated X and found VII to be the most overrated piece of dog poo I've ever played. VI and VIII are also very good.
