ST "Big Deal!"

Is anyone wondering where the writers got this idea for Fen and Solo?

A few years back there was a character named 'Big Deal' in one of William Shatner's Priceline.com commercials. He was a spoof of a mafia heavy. Does anyone agree?

 

... not really. ''Big Deal'' is a pretty generic and widely used term, seems unlikely to be referring to any one of the many, many, many people who have used it off hand before.

 

While I think that it's obvious foreshadowing for Finn, I don't think the phrase itself is particularly special.

He says he's a "big deal" because it sounds just generic enough to hint to Han that it's a load of crap.

Like, a good liar would have said something like "I'm a Lieutenant-colonel in the Resistance, a member of the 1st corp spy brigade..." blah blah blah. Finn is bs'ing and it shows...

I'd compare it to the classic trope of a guy meeting a girl in a bar, and telling her he's an astronaut.
