I haven't read Cestus Deception yet, so please no spoilers.

What exactly is a "living circuit"? Do these bio-droids have midi-chlorians?

so you want the answer without having the book spoiled? that's kinda tough...

let's just say that the droids are not 100% machine.

You can answer the questions, just no major spoilers. I don't mind minor spoilers.

Bio-roids are something created in Bubblegum Crisis and popularized in many other television shows. They are somewhere just below cyborgs but a step above fully automated machines in relation to mankind.

The main idea is that living tissue replaces the thinking areas of the brain and circuitry simply ties into it.

Were not Darth Vader and General Grevious both individuals whose brain came from living people but instead had been grown, they would have been bio-roids rather than cyborgs.

Actually, the Cestus Deception's creatures despite being non-sapient aren't actual bio-roids but cyborgs since their "living circuits" (i.e. organic brains) came from nature

It's a misuse of the world that's an actual movement in robotics.

There are differences between Bioroids, biomechanical android, bioandroids, and biodroids at least by definitions given in each franchise, or story.

Early forms of bioandroids can be found in the occasional 1940-1950's b-movie.

There is really is no straight forward definition really, as each source gives their own.

    What don't you get?

A Bio-Roid is a robot with an organic brain or parts.

A "Living Circuit" is a nice way of saying a brain or other organ hooked up to an otherwise machine body

No I understand that. What's the differences between bioroids, biomechanical androids, bioandroids, and biodroids?

I think Val is saying there's no difference as the words are used to mean different things across different science fiction

    :)

Were I try to summarize though....

    * Robot- Droid (oddly coming from android) or other machine being of any shape or size
    * Droid- In Star Wars, synonym for robot
    * Android- Human shaped robot
    * Bioroid: robot with organic parts.
    * Biomechanical Android: ANDROID with organic parts
    * Bio-Androids: Synonym for Biomechanical Android
    * Bio-Droids: Star Wars version of Bioroid
