Yes, it can. I wouldn't have played the game if I couldn't turn off the gore. Just watch out for it in the movie clips. :)

I have the demo from the X-Box magazine and it is disgustingly violent, no way I would buy that.

Disgustingly violent?? WTH. Sheesh. I swear, it's not like they have some thing chewing on someone's guts.... ?[face_plain]

Does this game have charactors like KotOR?

I replayed KotOR just to interact with the charactors sometimes.

Dude, those rat things explode with more blood and guts than they probably have in them. How is that not violent? (I personally think it is more so than Ninja Gaiden).

I think I'm in chapter three. I'm in the Imperial City doing all the side quests before I progress with the Lotus Assassins arc. I think I'm at 21 hours and 25 minutes.

Just defeated Sir Roderick. So far he has been my favorite personality in the game. I was hoping he would end up being a NPC. I was disapointed when he left after our fight. Oh well, at least I got Mildred out of it. :D

I got his gun. I'm 99% sure that guy was voiced than John Cleese himself.

It took me 15 hours to complete the game, I totally rushed through it and didn't do any of the sidequests. I'm going to do it again. However, none of the characters are a patch on those of KOTOR. You can talk to them but I thought none of them were as interesting as Carth or Jolee. The best is probably Black Whirlwind I think, the HK-47 of Jade Empire.

I was really dissapointed that the only real places you can visit are Two Rivers, Tiens Landing and Imperial City. The characters keep talking about the land, in particular a city called Phoenix Gate, yet you don't even go near them.

The end-credits confirmed Roderick was John Cleese. :)

Ah yes, it says in the booklet as well. He did a great job, hilarious. Glad I got the gun off him, even if it was a bit slow.

Anyone that says this game is anything less than great needs some help...the only real gore ive notived is when you use heavenly wave harmonic combo. Anyhow I beat the game first time doing most the sidequests in about 16 hours open palm style with thousand cuts, horse demon, and mirabelle. Now Im at the arena playing closed fist with legendary strike, fortunes favorite, Ice Shard, and Spirt Thief (which is the only reason I beat Smiling Turk and the fox Spirits).
Spirit Thief is great for defeating the emperor (#1)

Bioware did a great job on story line once more surprising me. Now that I'm playing it through again the subtle hints are obvious enough. To those of you who dont know what Im talking about one of your companions turns out to be an *******... who you get revenge on later.

Can anyone tell me if this game is truly worth renting? I have very little cash and don't want to rent it and only be dissapointed.

Your better off spending your money renting "Fight Club" or "Kabuki Warriors". Now those games are more worthy of the whole five dollars you might spend renting Jade Empire.

Actually this is probably the third best game ive played on X-box (halo and kotor being above it) but in some ways this game is more fun the kotor...as it has a very fable level interactive combat yet retaining a deeper level of complexity and advanced styles for more advanced characters...great storyline music and video as well.

I've just bought it, its good im only at the start of chapter 2.
My only dissapointemt is that they might as well have called it
Crouching Tigers Hidden Dragons of The Old Republic, as its
very similar to KOTOR, more similar than I'd thought it would be.
Thats not a bad thing but as I play it I keep going OK you
remind me of so and so and thats the Ebon Hawk, sorry my dragonfly.

But apart from that its good so far.

I've started playing it. In some ways it is similar to KOTOR, but not an exact copy.

I just beat it yesterday, I loved the game. Not sure why but I think I liked it more than KOTOR. The reason im not sure why is the fact I love star wars.
    (naturally)

Im thinking it was because you actually done the fighting yourself and could learn all the different techniques. Anyways I think the game is great.

WHat's the difference between Limited Edition and normal?

BTW, game is $39.99 at Best Buy this week!

    "there is...gore...in this game?

    Where?

    I haven't seen any! I want friggin' gore! "

Well there's an option to turn the gore on or off. I had the option turned on but I didn't start seeing any until I started to kill Lotus Assasians at their HQ, which is fairly late in the game.

As for the limited edition, I think it's just the game with an extra character and some documentaries.

this game was a huuuuge disappointment;less Kotor and more Fable, which is to say not awful but very shallow compared even the deeply flawed Kotor2
    -----spoilers alert-----------------
did anyone else find the Master Li twist cliched?
Kreia is a mentor who turns out to be evil and so was Maze in Fable-its been done to death already
