Saga Birth Rite - AU/AR Padmé, Anakin, Obi-Wan, Yoda, Palpatine. *Author's Note* 7/21

Thirty days of quarantiene will definitely be aggravating, especially with Padme so close... But hopefully he learns that Padme is pregnant soon!

 

Yay! They're going back to Coruscant! Woohoo! And they even found some information that might help those poor people. Gosh, I sure hope an antidote is discovered quickly. I'm a bit nervous for our Jedi heroes too. Something tells me you still have a few sneaky tricks up your sleeve!!

Loved the interaction between Obi-wan and Anakin. Despite their disagreemens, they really do have a neat friendship. You did an excellent job depicting that in this post. And Nejaa is just too cool for words. What a great guy he is - so understanding! He really 'gets' Anakin, you know?

Quarentine! Poor Jedi! I guess they've not done much like that (going into infected areas) on their tours. This is going to be an interesting 30 days. Somehow, I think Anakin's the one who'll have the most trouble with it. So close and yet so far to Padmé

?So we?re supposed to spend thirty days on a ship, flying around through space??

?No?I suggest we inform the Council of this then head back to Coruscant and finish out our quarantine at the Temple. They have the proper facilities for such a thing and can be prepared for when we arrive. Dr. Schyrou and the Healers work well together. We?ll send word to meet us at the Temple instead.?

?So we?re going back?? Anakin fought to suppress the excitement creeping into his voice.

?Yes,? was Obi-Wan?s firm reply. ?I?d much rather serve out this quarantine someplace I know and am comfortable at than out here. Besides, we could all use a break after this mission,? he quipped.

?I couldn?t agree with you more,? Nejaa remarked. ?I?m more than happy to get away from those rakkats. They smelled bad.? All three chuckled at this.

Obi-Wan reminded the two that once they docked with the Stargazer they were to head into a short term quarantine before heading back to the Temple.

That was fine with Anakin as long as he was going home. He didn?t know if he?d get a chance to see Padmé but he was going to try. He also knew that he was going to check and see if she had called him back before being put under lock down. He had to find out. He was also going to try and reach her once more. She deserved to know he was coming home even if it wasn?t directly to her.

It will be interesting to see if Anakin can figure out a way to see Padme while in quarantine. Love the dialogue between the three Jedi and you've done an absolutely superb job with Neeja. And Obi-Wan and Anakin are amazing, too! Wonderfully crafted story here and a true joy to read.

 

I'm glad to see the Jedi on their way to Coruscant. That is exactly what Anakin needs.

I just hope he doesn't put Padme at risk if he's successful in seeing her.

I am, however, a bit concerned about what the autopsy report will show...

Oh wow, this was a twist i did not see coming.
I don't think this quarantine concept is going to help anakin's fretting over padme.
Hopefully he won't try and choke any of the temple healers..

All i have to say is thank god neeja went on this mission!

I don't think obi-wan's going to be too impressed by the autopsy either... bad anakin...

Looking forward to seeing what padme and the doctor are up too in the meantime!

DarthSilious: Yep, you got first reply! Yay! And, oh yes, Beddect was a very sick man. He didn?t care what he was doing to people as long as he got the results he wanted for the biochemical weapon.


rocketscientist: Anakin is not going to like the quarantine one bit. Being so close to Padmé and yet he can?t see her. And for a whole month too. Poor guy. I?m so happy you like the dialogue. I feel it?s a vital part of a fic and it?s one of those things I really strive to make sure it works with the scene.


AnakinsFavorite: Good! I wanted it to give you shivers. I?d say my job is done if it did that. Concentration camps are a very touchy subject with me. The reason being I had relatives go into Auschwitz and they never came out. The reason they were there was because they were Romani (Gypsies). I actually lost a lot of relatives during WWII that I never had the fortune of knowing anything about. I can understand how the camps and the horrors that went on in them make you scream. They do for me but on a more personal level.


Valairy_Scot: Did it give you shivers? I wanted to show just how sadistic Beddect was. Did I succeed? And I like to think Obi-Wan will be like that every once and a while.


FitJedi: They need a break after that mission. Even if it?s stuck in quarantine, they?re home. And for Anakin it?s knowing Padmé is so close. And don?t worry; Anakin is determined to find out if Padmé contacted him. He won?t make through quarantine if he doesn?t.


Jazz_Skywalker: You might say this will be one heck of a trial for Anakin. Thirty days on planet and he can?t go see her. It?s definitely going to be a test of his willpower. And don?t worry, him finding out she?s pregnant is coming up. I just can?t say how soon.


VA_Parky: Yep, they?re on their way back. They may not like the quarantine but they'll like the break. Maybe an antidote will be found but things aren?t looking too good for it right now. And I love writing Anakin and Obi-Wan?s interactions more and more with every chapter they?re in. And I wish there had been more written with Anakin and Nejaa. I know I can?t stop saying that but it?s true. I love their friendship and who they get each other.

Jade_Max: I wanted the reader to use their imagination, to picture in their own minds the horrors that that were going on behind closed doors. If it chilled you to the bone then I got the response I was going for. Cool! Anakin is going to have quite a bit of trouble being in quarantine knowing Padmé is so close. Ya know, something like this could turn him to the Dark Side. You remembered Yoda and his planned visit. Good. That is coming up, though it may not go how you think.


VaderLVR64: I?m sure he?ll try and figure out something. This is Anakin here. Always running into danger and/or trouble. And he?ll have just that if he tries anything and is caught. And thank you! These three are so much fun to write together. And I adore Nejaa that I always hope I?m doing him justice.


KELIA: The three Jedi desperately need a break, especially Anakin. He?s such mental and emotional mess right now. This ?break? will do him some good. If he lets it. Obi-Wan will look at the autopsy report as soon as he can. He?s concerned too about what it has to say.

Anakin had hoped once on board the Stargazer he?d get a chance to check and see if Padmé had left him a message. He had gone so long without knowing if she called him back, without knowing if she was all right, like Obi-Wan had said so many times now, that he needed an answer before being locked up in quarantine. He knew the next thirty days would be unbearable if he didn?t find out. Unfortunately, what he wanted and what he got were two different things.

The three Jedi were greeted by clones and Healers who immediately escorted them to a specially designated part of the ship where they were to stay until they reached Coruscant. Anakin scowled and wanted to scream the moment he saw the small party waiting for them. Any chance of going to Communications was out of the question and he had to struggle to keep himself together. How much longer would it be now before he was able to check? He knew he wouldn?t be able to once he reached Coruscant. He thought being out here in the vastness of space would have made it easier. He just found out that wasn?t true.

Once to their designated location all three went through the process necessary for quarantine. Ready and in the small quarters they were to share, they waited for a Healer to check on them.

?I hate this,? Anakin grumbled sitting down hard on a bunk and looking at his slipper-covered feet.

?We all do,? Obi-Wan said looking at his former Padawan. ?But it?s better to be safe than sorry.?

?I know,? Anakin mumbled in return.

At that moment one of the Healers and his Padawan arrived. Both had taken the precautionary measures necessary while dealing with the three quarantined Jedi. Anakin stared harshly at them.

One standard hour and three physicals later the Healer and his Padawan readied to leave with the samples they needed to run some tests: hair, blood, even DNA. This last one struck Anakin as odd but again Obi-Wan reminded him it was better to be safe than sorry.

Just as the pair were about to leave Obi-Wan asked them if it was possible to see Verso Beddect?s autopsy report. The Healer told him he would see what he could do. Anakin spoke up next, knowing he couldn?t wait any longer. He asked if there had been any messages for him while he was gone. The Padawan told him she didn?t know but she would check if he liked. Anakin heartily agreed getting two very distinct looks from his roommates.

?Well, all we can do now is wait,? Nejaa said, laying down on the bunk opposite the wall from where Anakin sat again.

?This is going to be a long thirty days,? Anakin said, putting his head in his hands and shaking it.

?True, but it?ll be a fine time for meditation,? Obi-Wan said giving him a half smile and a knowing glint in his eyes.

Anakin looked up and glowered at him. ?You would say that, wouldn?t you?? He buried his head in his hands while both Obi-Wan and Nejaa c

 

Awww, I don't mind waiting, Daenarrah! I know you are going to do such a beautiful job with the reunion of our favorite couple, it will be more than worth it.

Another outstanding chapter, my dear. I can really feel Anakin's frustration so clearly. I'm glad that he realized it was too risky to try to see Padme though. The intitial reports may have come back okay on his exposure to the toxin, but I won't let down my guard until the thirty day observation period has passed!

I'm also really worried about the fact that there's no appearent hope for an antidote! Man, oh man, that is not good. If Palpy ends up getting his grubby hands on that stuff, the Galaxy is in for it. *bites nails* Yikes!

This story is just incredible! I love getting the PM that says you've updated because I know I'm about to read something great!

Anakin seems to be getting a bit frantic, I hope the message calms him down a bit.

Can't wait to see how Padme and the good doctor are getting along as well. I rather enjoyed the scenes with those two's interaction.

 

Leave it to Anakin to jump the gun and totally get irritated getting stuck with Obi-Wan in quarantine for a month !

But I can't wait for Anakin and Padme's long awaited conversation finally .

Oh goodness Daenarrah.. you did, you ended that chapter there. I completely understand why but wow I was in the zone, but I'll definitely be anxious to see how the conversation goes between these two.
Very well done chapter, you really captured their anxieties and frustrations very well, can't wait for more.

 

Completely understand why you ended that chapter there - makes for some good suspence - plus we all know you'll do a bang-up job when we finally get that emotionally packed conversation.

Makes me wonder if Padmé is going to risk telling him her good news over a comm line, or if she's simply going to hint that she has to see him as soon as he's out of Quarentine - as I can't see Anakin keeping that part from her. Maybe she'll even come visit and then Yoda has a chat with her, hmmm?

I'm very excited about this whole prospect!

I also have to mention that Anakin's frustration about the whole situation - and his fear - were very real. I was very impressed how you conveyed it without really using it as a focus - bravo m'dear!

I think things are going to get messy when Obi-Wan gets the autopsy report. But I'm not too sure that's a bad thing. I think Anakin needs to straighten things out with Obi-Wan, and if he hasn't got the guts to come clean and face his own darkness, it can't be such a terrible thing if something were to happen [the autopsy report?] that would lay all of Anakin's secrets - the good, the bad, and the downright plug-ugly - in the light.

Oh, and I've really enjoyed the past few chapters.
