I think a baby being born is a more acceptable thing because its "oh wow, a human is born", where as the act of conception should only stay in the privacy of their bedroom, and is private. Why people post videos of their birth, or others post it is beyond me.

In fairness to Arlon, the definition of obscene has always included sex acts (of certain varieties) and not really birth. It's not like he just made it up.

So you are cool with checking out the rather private moments of birth, despite there being the clear intent to record and share the event, but the privacy of sex (an equally natural and necessary act in human procreation) regardless of the intent to record and share it, is somehow more private??

EDIT: Fair enough wocky, but I still find the distinction to be prudish and ridiculous.

Is that why for the longest time the fathers were asked to wait outside?

Women can't really enjoy giving birth, so it's not obscene.

I've been reading quotes from Republicans today.

Lol....To be fair, watching your kid(s) being born is like watching your favorite toy being destroyed.

Eh, I had intended to make my comment more general than it appears I actually did.

In any case, though, the "smoking in the delivery room" thing was a fairly brief moment in history. For most of history, births happened at home, and males were under no particular compulsion to abscond. Nor would other adults or family members have vacated the premises in the way they would for intercourse.

Birth, like all of female reproduction, has had a pretty storied social history. You make that point fairly enough. You might also make the point that you think Arlon in particular over-reacts to sex. But it's really not tenable to say that sex and child birth/labor have been considered equivalent acts.

In antiquity, occasional rites allowed for public sexual acts (which were otherwise considered scandalous) whereas birthing was a private thing. So there.

To be fair to Arlon, my issue isn't him really, its the prevailing reaction to sex/nudity I find utterly perplexing. But then again I feel that way about a number of things that have traditionally been treated rather unfairly/negatively.

This was my line of thought. I think Arlol is attempting to find an "acceptable" way to watch vag stretching, pooping, squirting, and bleeding... genius, really.

Here's a thought for Arlon: Maybe girls are freaked out by birthing videos because they show you what your body has to go through to have a kid.

I haven't popped a kid out, but I've had gallstone, which I'm told is just as painful (if not slightly more) painful than having a child. So on that pain scale alone, I'm not too keen to have kids (without amazing drugs, that is).

Eh. The passing is not nearly as bad as the having.

Birth videos: Why are people so freaked out about it?

Simple really...it's a mixture of agonizing pain and bodily fluids that result in the introduction of a tiny, screaming life form.

Only harpooning it through the chest and blowing it out of an airlock is out of the question.

I think the real question is why these people are watching birth videos on YT if they're freaked out by them.

Unless they just wanted to become notorious...

Later on for royalty it was the thing for witnesses to be in the birthing room to make sure the queens chambermaid didn't smuggle the hub in with a warming pan. And that's just silly, have you seen how big a warming pan is?

IDK Amy, get Vin on the conversation, I'm sure he can go lower by some of the gifs he hands out. As far as natural childbirth Arlol, you should go the full mile, and be up close and personal for a Caesarean. It's a beautiful sight.

Why the hell are you even looking up videos of women having babies anyways? You tend to think that women wearing tube tops are harlots as it is, I always figured you believed in the stork.
