Buff, NY Bisons 2012 Dueling Show - "A STORM OF SITH" Preparation Thread

It's that time of year! We are officially in pre-production on this year's Buffalo Bisons Star Wars Night show, A STORM OF SITH.

PARTICIPATION & COMMUNICATION
This portion of the Bisons event is a serious commitment. Rehearsals will be starting March 10, and will be conducted from March through June 9th. That's only 3 months (working off-and-on) to learn both duel routines and blocking. I know people can do it, as we've done it the last two years. But you know yourselves. You know your schedules and your abilities. I personally never want to tell anyone in this group "don't duel" (although, as before, the NR leadership does reserve that right with less-than-active members). If you don't think your schedule will allow taking on the dueling rehearsal schedule, don't duel, or at least limit the amount of duels you agree to perform. Additionally, we know life comes up. Work, sickness, etc., these things happen. Blowing off rehearsal for the good weather, going to the movies, etc. or other reasons is downright lazy and disrespectful to the group and to your dueling partners.

Duelists are responsible for keeping both myself (or in my absense the person/people running rehearsal) and any and all dueling partners appraised if something comes up, and you are unable to make it to a rehearsal. We are all adults here and we have a contact list. TALK TO YOUR PARTNERS. Get their phone numbers, email addresses, etc. Not knowing your dueling partner's contact information is not an excuse this year. Don't make us sic Gil on you.

People who have questions or concerns should bring up their issues. Nothing gets solved by grousing. Just ask your question, bring up your problems. We are here to help each other out, after all.

REHEARSALS -- UPDATED 2/14/12

Rehearsals will begin on Saturday, March 10 with Duel #1. Not every duelist will be needed on March 10. A full rehearsal schedule has been sent out via email.

We are still seeking additional duel rehearsal locations. See HOW YOU CAN HELP below for details.



FILMING OF VIDEOS -- UPDATED 2/27/12

Session #1: Filming of Video #8 on February 25th has been completed.

Session #2: April 21 -- We will be filming Video

 

Why are all of these details being posted on the public forum?

 

No different from how it was initially done last year.

 

Good job Bryan. Looking forward to working with everyone to make this even better than last year. The talent and enthusiasm of this group is amazing.

We will be on a cruise to Bermuda from May 10th to May 17th. Unavailable then for reheasals.

 

I will be at a conference from April 12th-15th.
Riley's Birthday party is probably going to be on April 28th (during the day).
I'll be Disneyworld with the family from May 12th-21st.

Given that I'll be missing a good chunk of time right before the performance I'll be
fine with a smaller role.

 

I should be at every practice, unless somthing comes up in the future (in that case I will write it out)
Only conflict would be that I cannot attend rehearsal the Friday before the game, as it's my Prom. So I may be a lil' sleepy com gameday, but I'll work through it

 

I will be home on the weekends from now until the week of the Bisons game. That week I will be home all week. I may be off the week of my birthday as well. (May 12th)

I will try and get you a better sense of my availability in the upcoming weeks.

 

I'll let you know if something comes up, but obviously like we talked about before is I'm not missing my prom which is the day before the game. But yes I should be good for the rest unless I'm burned out from studying/taking 3 AP exams in a row this May. You WILL be notified. Now to find a dueling partner....

 

I'm in for whatever side (probably sith, whatever). Can do a limited/smaller duel, nothing too grandiose.

 

I am definitely in. Sith/Jedi, wherever you need me.

Given that work has been asking a lot of me lately, I can definitely do a small duel for sure, possibly a larger duel if it's needed!

 

Still waiting to hear from five of last year's participants and hear from any of the noobs. Speak up and speak soon or you'll miss out!

 

The first post has been updated with information on the filming dates. The second date has been scheduled.

 

Cannot do the filming on February 25th, other date is too far out to tell.

 

Biz is in as well for everything. She wanted me to pass that on to you.

Do you intend to duel this year, Marty? I just need to know for the numbers of duelists.

 

the 25th will be tough for me (day after I get back from Atlanta) but I'll do my best to be there - don't know my work schedule that far out.

 

If you make it, iron your Jedi costume. That goes for everybody, really. We're filming in full HD, so keep the wrinkles to a minimum on filming days!

Speak up if you want to get involved! Don't wait until we start rehearsals because it will be FAR too late by that point.

Looks like you have quite a few Sith characters. I would love to get a Sith costume going, however, the reality is it probably won't happen before the game.

Put me down as a Jedi for this one. Emperor's Black Bones - Someone gotta stand up to them...

 

Can do, if I can make it, I'll bring my steamer for other folks in case.
