The following is the start of a 12 chapter story I've been working on for a while. I'm interesting in input on the characters as well as plot.
    Thank you!

    --------- --------- ----------

The press of lips upon her cheek- the left cheek, it seemed. Heat on that place, but it is too electric to stay there. It flows from the cheek down her neck, and finally to the heart where it causes several added beats in each minute that passes next. Passion. And love, always love. A lover?s hand upon her neck, gentle and caressing, thumb absently stroking the cheek his lips cannot otherwise attend to. Heat and emotion, and in the end contentment, though that last will be a long time yet in coming. A whisper in the ear now, meaningless even as it is full of meaning. Joy- yes, above all that enraptured joy, every time feeling like a stolen rendezvous, each moment better than the last?

Maren Jerikko sat straight up in her bed, a moan of annoyance escaping her as she did. Her hands, her own hands, covered her eyes as she desperately attempted to regain something of her usual composure. She was unsure if she had really been sleeping, but that matters little as she currently was not. White-hot desire had entered her quarters, and found its way past her constant defenses. Which, as usual, meant there was to be no more sleep for a while yet.

Maren kicked her feet over the side of her bed, not for the first time cursing the Jedi empathy which so often broke her rest. Even as a Jedi Knight, after years of training both with her father and (albeit for a very short time) Valin Horn, her empathic radar was so strong that at times it couldn?t be controlled. There were ways of binding the ability, of course, but all would leave her unable to access the full strength even when it was needed, so she had deftly avoided going through the process and settled for the dreams.

Besides, it wasn?t as though they were entirely unpleasant.

Maren went to the fresher, splashing some cool water on her face. Slowly, she did her best to maneuver the Force so that she was less affected by the advances being made in the adjoining apartment. She had lived most of her life on Corellia, and in particular in this small apartment complex just off the main drag of Treasure Ship Row, and every time this happened she swore it was time to move. Her mind was simply too apt to picking up the thoughts of her fellow sentient beings. Treasure Ship Row boasted of a wide variety of dealings, and midnight trysts were common in the area. It took a strong emotion to slip through Maren?s tight-knit web of blocking, but it was passion infiltrated most easily- and passion was common on The Row.

The benefits of living so near The Row were too numerous, however. Maren took great pride in being on the scene quickly when something happened to require her attentions, and since her beat was Treasure Ship Row it simply made sense that she remain near to it. Her partner Dilea Horn lived only a few apartments away, in a place that was infrequently occupied by her and her husband Ter. When needed the two were able to be on scene within moments, answering the calls to CorSec with a vengeance.

As Maren moved to the kitchenette, intent on seeking some pomna juice since she happened to be awake, she considered her own joining of CorSec. It had been the best decision of her life, in spite of the alternative. She could have joined the Jedi Order full-time, and been sent all over the galaxy at whim, but there was enough for a Jedi to do just staying on Corellia! She had been off-planet several times, but Corellia was certainly her home. It was here that her father Danik had taken great pains to train her to be a Jedi, though his duty often took him away. It was here that she had grown and learned, and within this city of Coronet that she had become a Jedi. Certainly the completion of the training had taken her away from this place, but in her heart she?d known she was going to come home.

Besides, they say that Corellian Jedi leave the system at t
