Board Announcement: New Header Navigation Layout

As was already said in the Mod Squad Update for this week, we have found a new layout for the boards that allows us to do things that we've been wanting to do for a while.

The new layout for our headers is as follows:

• Forum Announcements
• Useful Forum Links
• Navigation Links

We now have the ability to post Announcements in specific forums that are visible to everyone. When there is no information that needs to be disseminated via this, we can remove the section to keep the boards looking tidy.

The Useful Links section will contain links to board moderators, threads, indices, FAQ's or web pages that are commonly used or useful to read.

Currently the new layout is available in the following forums:

• JC Community
• Census
• Attack of the Clones
• Episode 3 (Spoilers)
• Episode 3 (Non-Spoilers)
• Classic Trilogy
• Star Wars Music
• Literature
• Collecting
• Fan Fiction Stories
• Fan Fiction Writers' Resource
• Administration boards

We are also currently working on establishing one for the Games forum, and will be designing ones for Costuming, Fan Films, any Fan Force forum that wishes them, and other forums as requested by their moderators.

 

Well this is all sorts of nifty. Now I will go click the new buttons.

I really don't like the "story of the week" function - who decides the story of the week? Is it random? Is it chosen by a mod? Obviously the latter is problematic because that could lead to accusations of favoritism, but the former could be a problem as well. I know for a fact that I have a couple of abandoned works that I'd rather not have see the light of day again.

Mel, that was something that TSL has implimented, so I'll guess you'll have to talk to him about them.

Oh, two things I forgot to mention.

Nice work, Kadue - other than the thing I mentioned earlier, it looks great, and it's very useful.

And second, someone misspelled "implemented" in the announcement at the top of the page.
