Pittsburgh, PA Book Club

With all that is going on next month, I decided to postpone the meeting to a later date to be determined. It's going to be rough with the Fire-lounge event on that Tuesday night to turn around and have a book club the next day.

 

Has a new date been set for this?

If anyone has written book reviews you can now post them on the website.

 

How about the next Book Club meeting being at Barnes and Noble at the Monroeville Mall on Thursday, May 10 at 6:30pm. Discussing Legacy of the Force #1 Betrayal by Aaron Allston.


If there is no objection, I'm going to list it in the 'upcoming' events in the ComiCon Flyer, so get your feedback about this event posted in this thread by Sunday afternoon.

 

It's ok with me. I'll call Barnes & Noble to see if we can get it listed in their flyer.

Just a reminder that this is today. I don't think I'll be able to make it. Take some photos of the deep discussion that occurs. What leads to the dark side in this case? Is it fear? Fear of loss? That was brought up in greencat's Comicon panel, and is probably relavent here. Could that fear lead to anger, then hate, and then suffering in the books to follow? Maybe the philosophy folks can join in!!!

 

Only Michele and I were there, and I was an hour late and hadn't read the book. So we chatted about other things

So, lets try this again . . . Michele suggested that we also include comics in the discussion topics. Is anyone else interested in that? If so, we could chat about the Dark Horse "Legacy" (the current story is '137 years after Yavin')


What time and place? Personally, I like the Monroeville setting (although I wouldn't mind moving it over to the Monroeville Borders, especially since B&N does not carry comics) but I'd be open to moving it to another location if other folks wanted that . . .

Been a while since we've done this. Anyone interested? We could chat about the comics (I'm developing a real fondness for Dass Jennir) or speculate about the upcoming Darth Bane novel . . .

 

I don't know when would be a good time since the Sept. meeting is still up in the air, and October is busy as well. But I definetly want to do this!

 

January through July is usually when I read all my books for the year. I won't be able to make any meetings until January but I look forward to re-joining the group then.
