Hart - if you go to Amazon you can usually preview books to read a little bit of them before you buy. That may be a good thing to look into if you're unsure where to start.

It's an all out shove.

This thread has good information we could all use.

The only filmmaking books I currently own are 'Screenwriting for Dummies' and 'How to stop worrying and start living' . The second isn't really a filmmaking book but it helps!

Ordered this one yesterday. I'll let you know what I think.

EDIT: While I'm on this subject, Skip Press' book, "The Complete Idiots Guide To Screenwriting" is a great book. He is very knowledgable on the subject.

Editing

Behind the Seen: How Walter Murch Edited Cold Mountain Using Apple's Final Cut Pro and What This Means for Cinema (Charles Koppelman)

The title says it all - this book has some amazing information in it about how the process of editing a feature film on FCP made the film come to life. From what I've read so far it looks to be a most interesting book!

I like this one it's been Very helpful

 

Well I know it's not a book, but I recently purchased this DVD and it is amazing! Everything from the method of instruction to the layout of the DVD is very well done and worth looking into.

If anyone has more suggestions for books and the like feel free to post them.

 

Suprised nobody has mentioned 'Story' by Robert Mckee.
