JCC boring question about boring things

I'm in need of a personal budgeting software so I can keep my life in order and plan ahead for the future. Now I know some or many of you do this manually, and that's great, gold stars for you, have cookies up your butts, but I need something a bit more. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've looked around and most seem to cost money which makes me feel hesitant because there's nothing more unsettling than spending money to save money. So free is certainly preferable, and easy to understand because I'm an artist brain and not a mathematics.

Do you have Microsoft Excel? You can download a free and legal template for that. They'd probably work even if you had a small business or something, if you ever go freelance on the art.

You can use google sheets as an alternative to excel. It's free.

I've heard mint.com is pretty good. It keeps track of all your accounts for you as well as allowing you to budget without doing math. It's free.
