Her parry succeeded but, her counterstike failed to connect, this combatant was far more agile than they seemed. Fur'al-loasan stepped up assisting and guarding Hinoki's short retreat. The young woman, Matsuoka-loasan surged forward in an over hand strike. Again the being's swiftness became apparent as they deftly dodged the attack and lashed out with an open palm. The dual wielding orokujin managed to defelct the blow but, not enough it seemed at her arms seemed rattled by the impact to her shoulder.

The teacher prepared to leap in striking from the side with her polearm to relive the pressure Matsuoka-loasan was under. However Byunaatse-laosan stuck from behind forcing the aggressor to gracefully flip out of the way. This fighter was clearly well trained, and deceptive in skill. Now though they were surrounded but, not seeming afraid.

Hinoki took up a position to the side brandishing her naginata. She stayed at range, at all the distance her weapon could afford. With quick motions she brought her blade down in a crushing overhead strike, if that was resisted her follow up would be just as swift. Two thrusts as quick as snake bite would lash out at them in the chest. She would continue to harry the intruder from range leaving the space nearest them open for her allies the swarm the black clad figure.

"They will not leave, young Maiden." The other woman started, "Their presence here shows they have already resolved themselves to a fight with death." Ochi swallowed hard, death…truly, her eyes were wide, breathing labored. The musician stood in front of her igniting her own lightsaber. "If you truly wish to aid in this battle, I will give you time to truly prepare." The maiden's blades waver, her hands shaking sending shivers down her weapon.

She wanted to aid, to help her allies and the house that had taken her in. She screwed her eyes shut, recalling the tenants Senyō- sayé taught her.

'Defend the weak, protect the just, uphold the honor of you shrine.'

This brought his some solace but, did little to move her from her spot. The Ewok leapt into battle the woman following close afterwards. The clang of steel rang out in the small space. The foe was surrounded falling deeper and deeper into the house a place they shouldn't be. If they escaped, they could harm someone else, harm Akachen Feikia-laosan. She still hadn't heard the vision the reason she was brought here.

For just a moment the light from her blades glinted off the broch she wore, off the golden filigree that surrounded the blue gem.

'Uphold the honor of your shine'

Though her knees still shook she took a quick breath centering herself preparing for what she had to do. She was a maiden of the Blue Dragon, the defender of the world, she couldn't dishonor her family, her home by failing to protect a Khan and his family.

Though she knew what she had to do, and that it was expected of her, it still didn't alleviate fear, her nerves. She took in another breath and moved swiftly around the woman and the infiltrator to cut off their escape.

"I warned you." She said voice still cracking. Stepping closer she twirled her staff blue blades cutting through the air. Her glowing sabers stuck one after the other like the teeth of a saw, it was a flurry of blows that could overwhelm the opponent or leave them open to attack from the others. Inside though Ochi wanted to be anywhere else, anywhere but, in a room locked in a fight to the death.

    IC: Seri'na Rubellite
    ~Jeongbayar Estate, Zhenao~

Rubellite had ascended the wall with little difficulty and was surveying it and feeling for anything when guards came rushing all over every part of it as well, a few hurriedly approaching her own exact spot. With a stiff nod to either side she took one last feel, but once more she noticed nothing that told her anything was coming. Not by sight, nor smell. The intruder seemed to the be lone one coming from this direction. Sighing as the other guards drew near, from her grip on the edge of the wall she drew up her legs, and with a mighty enhanced push of legs and back she shot off between the trees towards where the intruder had gone.

And that brought up another thing, for those attempting to feel them out, their presence was there. But even with the Dragon's Force they were very faint, almost completely gone from being able to sense. If focused on too long, it was likely to quickly become a strain and disorienting trying to feel out one so clearly there.

So instead she relied on her Dragon's Force enhanced smell as she twisted in the air, and began to run on all fours. Aiming to quickly eat up the distance between her and the intruder as she called for aid to push her limbs faster and stronger over the top soil. As she heard the familiar snap hiss of a lightsaber she altered her path to better aim for that position.

Dragon's help them all to protect the Khan.

OOC: Will give a little time for another to respond to QueenSabe7's post before updating the Zhaoichi Group. ;)

    ~Jeongbayar Estate, Zhenao~

Callie landed ahead of the intruder successfully, her position and ignited lightsaber forcing them to skid to a halt and pause.

"Stop right there!" Akiva commanded, her hand firmly upon the hilt of her own weapon. "In the name of Khan Jeongbayar, you will submit yourself for questioning!"

She didn't expect them to of course, their actions said they well understood what they were doing and the risks associated with it. But she had to make the announcement nevertheless.

That was when Rubellite managed to finally catch up to the scene. And when the figure pulled out a long, steel-tipped whip from their waistband, its coils unraveling by their right side.

Without a sound, there was a crack as they lashed straight out at Akiva behind them, forcing the feeorin to ignite her weapon to deflect the blow and attempt to cut off the length of it. Her defense worked, but the whip moved too quickly for it to be countered right then as it arced out in a wide circle to strike across the messenger blocking her way as well before coming all the way around and attempting a blow at the selonian samurai.

They would soon discover that the leather length of the weapon was resistant to a lightsaber blade as well, clearly enhanced with the power of the Dragons to make it more feasible.

    Their response would be critical.

The enemy figure only spared the briefest of glances at the guards now rushing behind them, before realizing Hinoki was on them again!

They blocked the overhead strike, allowing them to bend just enough to absorb the crushing impact, then skip back from the first thrust and deftly deflect the second. Onni moved from the side of the orokujin's attacks with her tonfas, forcing the assailant to deflect another harrying strike from the older woman the opposite direction, swiftly move to block the zabrak's strike and aim a kick at her midsection to force her to back up.

Kazue was on the other side of Hinoki, maneuvering around and swiping twice quickly, low at their feet in an attempt to throw them off as they were busy warding off multiple strikes. A horizontal flip was the response, forcing them to move further toward the Kangyuen guards who were now readying their own weapons.

Kunai, sharp and deadly seem to materialize out of nowhere as their assailant was in mid motion in the air, forcing the guards to halt long enough to give the enemy room. And then…

They struck the wall and barreled into the estate from the side, into a thankfully empty storage room. But they quickly slashed through a shoji door on the other side and came into a more wooden hall, where they began to turn and attempt to run from them.

Cursing, Kaifen could only follow suit. The enemy had made a tactical decision to simply go through a wall when space was narrowing and now the Kangyuen Samurai found themselves constricted for space to follow as between the four of them, plus the guards all converging there, they would undoubtedly being giving chase at the same time.

That was planned well. No wonder they had remained calm. But now they were inside the estate!

Ochitsukanai managed to block the enemy's route as they maneuvered around Iori and Pyrrak, if barely, only to find the Shrine Maiden.

With a simple phrase with cracking voice, the twirling blades lashed out with impressive speed for her age. They used their daggers to block, once. Twice. Thrive. Then they were leaning away and dodging.

The ewok was coming from behind again and swinging the naginata in a move to trip them up, his thoughts lost and unknowable behind his dark eyes. The figure managed to barely hop above the swing and do a little skip to the side, both daggers flashing to deflect more blows from Ochi while kicking the ewok away with surprising speed.

Iori was back however and managed a graze across their back.

    "Argh!"

She shifted her blade back to stab inwards once more, but this time the intruder just tucked down and backwards rolled away from them all. Further into the estate again. Standing back up, they turned and ran deeper down a hallway, through a large receiving room, past sleeping quarters of shrieking servants, by another receiving room where two other assailants were busy battling other Akachen Samurai with rarely seen ferocity.

Where was this one going? They almost seemed to know their way around and the Khan's quarters were the opposite direction…In any event:

"We can't let them get away!" yelled Iori, her eyes blazing with concentration.

Callie flipped and gracefully landed in front of the intruder, holding her ground as she ignited her saber. The intruder slid to a halt. Callie heard Akiva's voice calling out from behind the intruder. "Stop right there!" Akiva called out."In the name of Khan Jeongbayar, you will submit yourself for questioning!" Callie held back a snort. Did the woman really think they were going to stop? No, this warrior was something more than just some ronin.

The other female samurai Seri'na, managed to catch up to them, when the intruder pulled a long, steel-tipped whip, uncoiling it to the ground. Callie swore in her mind at this development. A not often used weapon. It took true skill. Another hint of their uninvited visitor. Suddenly, there was movement as the intruder lashed the whip straight out towards Akiva who was behind the intruder. Callie growled as she tried to take advantage of the attacker turning from her, when suddenly the whip came around in a wide arc, holding Callie at bay, a sizzling sound as her blade met the whip in her block, while it continued on its arc to attack towards the third samurai as well. Dragons breath! Callie bide her time, and when the intruder continued towards Seri'na with her weapon, Callie decided it was time to act. Still inhanced by the Force, and the will of the Dragons, she moved, to try to force the attacker to deal with a closer attack, by making it more difficult for them to use the weapon. She slid, coming in low drawing her katana as well as she did. To leap would leave her open to an easier attack from the whip. This way, while she was still dealing with the other two Samurai, the intruder would be hard pressed to deal with a two level or more attack. Or at least, Callie hoped they would be. But again, this warrior was no normal warrior. Callie was sure of it. So, unusual tactics were to be pressed into service this night against a most unusual warrior indeed.

    Onni Fu'ral
    ~ Kangyuen Estate, Hireolshi ~

Hinoki was swift, moving in with an overhead strike, even as the others moved to assist. Onni's attacks with her tonfas moved the assailant back, but then forced Onni to immediately move back, as a foot came flying towards her with amazing speed. Onni barely had time to move, even as the others were attacking the being.

Kazue was on the other side of Hinoki, maneuvering around each other, even as their attacker responded with a horizontal flip. Metal gleamed in the air suddenly as now the unknown attacker suddenly went through the wall, and into the estate. The next room was an empty storage area. Force! The dark clad being then slashed their way through a door on the other side, into a hall, turning to run. Kaifen was right behind the attacker.

Ton'da, who was growling, gave a loud lone howl of warning from inside the hallway as he moved next to Onni. Onni frowned. How did the enemy know where to go? And she could see that they were quickly getting out maneuvered. They had to get ahead of him, Onni thought to herself. Was there anyway she could move, to get ahead of the intruder? Simply following him was not going to do. Onni reached out within the Force to see if she find a way around, in order to cut this intruder off. She had been here before. Time to see if her memory was better. Or Ton'da's nose. If she could block the way, and slow the intruder down, she would use that to her advantage as well. Otherwise, she would continue to aid her companions, by keeping the intruder off balance, and giving them no time to recover until she could find a way to cut them off.

The figure warded off Hinoki's attacks leaving Fur'al-loasan to rush in and make an attack. Lashing out like a cornered beast a leg flashed aiming for the zabrak's midsection. The samurai was forced to take a quick step back giving the intruder more room to breathe. The Senfu moved to step closer giving not quarter but, the younger orokujin appeared around her rushing in low and slashing at the being's feet forcing them back, closer to the guards that were readying their weapons.

The infiltrator was surrounded nowhere for it to go. Hinoki hardened her stance brandishing her pole arm toward the being. She did not know if they would give up or try and fight to the last. That would be their choice. Inside herself though, she hoped she didn't have to kill them. In that moment she recalled that day, the day everything changed for her. She felt the bandit's body fall limp against her, his blood staining her kimono. Perhaps distracted by this she didn't notice the figure bursting through a wall right into a storage room.

Byunaatse-laosan took off after them, Hinoki followed suit, she did not know these grounds, she would be lost if she tried another route. However if the being thinks that a confined space restricts her attacks he is sorely mistaken. Much can be done with vertical strikes, and thrusts. The only problem was that they kept retreating from her. Her eye cast around looking for something to throw. She wouldn't dare use her own weapon as a javelin but, if she could find something to slow them down, it would be helpful.

As she ran she held her weapon in her left hand making any throw she made coming from her dominate hand. She might miss, they might block it, but, if it costs them a step it would be worth it.

Each strike that made contact with the beings weapons drove the point home. This was real, those were real weapons in their hands, and Ochi was really fighting them. She kept up her assault not giving a moment's rest trying to drive the being back from her. The Ewok moved forward to try and trip up the aggressor but, recived only a kick to the body sending them flying. A sharp intake of breath came from the young maiden. She opened her mouth to speak but, the outcry of pain from the black clad being stopped her.

The other woman had cut into their flesh leaving slight blood stains on her blade and on the wall. Just more evidence that this wasn't a dream, or something imagined by the girl. Before she could finish the fight the figure rolled backwards away from the group and fled.

"Are you ok," she called out to the furry creature that had taken a hard kick.

Before she could get a reply the other woman shouted,

"We can't let them get away!" A high pitched squeak left Ochi's chest when she heard this.

"Ok," she said taking off after the being in a blur of blue and white. She called once again on the power of the Blue Dragon to grant her the speed of its wings, and all the will it could give to steel her heart. Her hands still shook a little even as she chased after this figure. She was moving at such a pace she didn't see the servants or the samurai fighting against yet more intruders but, she did hear it, and it worried her. She could stop and aid them but, then she would lose the one fleeing from her. Unsure of what to do she did the only thing she could think of, she asked someone for help.

"Blue Dragon," she said continuing to chase after her quarry. "I know I'm asking a lot right now but, please, keep everyone safe." She took in another breath and picked up her speed. Her mind was racing so fast she didn't have time to consider that this figure wasn't moving towards the Khan's quarters but, away. She had no time to consider if this was just a distraction, or a trap. All she was focused on was the case and asking her dragon for all its aid.

Doubt began to permeate Orin’s mind as he stood poised with his staff in a white-knuckled grip. The intruder had come quickly, striking them with an unexpected urgency that had taken everyone off guard. A man was now dead, and his natural reaction – his only reaction – was to seek retribution. Running purely on adrenaline, Orin had set out to pursue, but as he approached the doorway, he soon realized that he was terribly outmatched. The killer was likely a trained professional, a warrior in his own right.

    And who was he?

    A university professor?

    A researcher?

I’ll just go ahead and poke him in the eye with my stylus. I’m sure that’ll solve everything…

Wincing at his wayward thoughts, Orin felt his grip loosening, his valor slowly shrinking back into the recesses upon which it came. But before he could lose all hope, he was given a reprieve. Five samurai burst through the adjoining door to join the pursuit. A battle cry accompanied their approach, signifying that the old man, Benkei, was also offering his assistance. Surely, the young woman was among them as well!

If not for the urgency of the situation, he would have laughed at his dumb luck. But was it truly luck…or the will of the Force?

He would ponder that question later; for now, Orin adjusted his grip and stepped up with a renewed vigor, his confidence fully restored. He was about to swing for the killer’s vulnerable left flank, hoping to crack him in the side of the skull, but another unexpected obstacle gave him pause. This man, whoever he was, also displayed an affinity for the Force. Gathering his strength, he unsheathed two katanas and began to spin, slowly at first, but quickly gaining momentum. In a matter of seconds, his body was a blur, the only discerning feature coming in the form of the katana blades as they glinted in the firelight.

Orin exhaled in exasperation as he traded glances with his companions. Was this something they dealt with often? Even so, he supposed there wasn’t much training one could receive to counter a man spinning like a top. It was a ludicrous notion. And yet, it may have a simple solution.

Clenching his teeth together, he angled his staff so that he was holding it more like a spear. With one swift motion, he hurled it at the killer, aiming for the man’s legs. The hope was to trip him up, similar to sticking a stationary object into a set of moving gears.

    IC: Seri'na Rubellite
    ~Jeongbayar Estate, Zhenao~

Rubellite had arrived to find that the messenger had blocked off the path of the intruder, and Akiva delivered her message of surrender. It was one of those pretentious orders that only the goo Samurai followed, the Ronin would would as soon kill you, and in giving the ultimatum you always left yourself as the one open. It was like trying to haggle a deal whilst working on a project, attention divided you opened yourself to risks in either direction. A slight hit of the hammer off point, or a choice made in distraction can be damaging, but here it could be fatal. For this reason she was glad her customer and in a certain light friend had asked the question, her age made sure that the words might be like a background sound of a fire crackling and not a truly distracting conversational piece it would of been if Seri'na had tried to do so.

The intruder produced, or rather loosed, a long glinting glossy whip to briefly taste the ground. They had the intruder surrounded, and the answer to the question was in the loosing even as Seri'na readied her staff weapon. It snapped at Akiva, then at Callie the messenger, where it met the sizzling lightsaber and endured no harm, and she noted something of the shiny tip of the whip. The point that was there, the possibilities of form and function being old friends her nail tapped an indent and grazed another as she readied herself, staff askance across her as it came to her now. No common steel was used in that whip. So be it. As it sailed at her after surviving the lightsaber and blade of her allies she made a quick action that many might find foolish. She made to grab it with the 'toes' of her staff, hitting just below that pointed tip that also was the weight, her nail depressing the button it rested on to cause the toes to clamp when she felt the Force and Dragons whisper that the time was right. With a twist across a guard position in case it failed she began to twist inward toward the woman, the opposing end of her staff moving high and in with a goal to align, ignite, and descend across the arm holding the whip. End the threat as it appeared quickly, with the hope to leave something for questioning later.

Rain continued to pour down on the small band of samurai, seeming an indifferent witness to the drama of their lives.

Secret agendas seemed to b win motion, but they did not go unnoticed, at least not this night.

    “What is to be done?”

Master Ash heard Izanami’s whispered words and at once understood that despite her position as a patroller of the immediate area, she was deferring to the veteran samurai present. It was good to see young samurai who still respected traditions.

The blind miraluka offered a quick, but firm nod, then opened his left palm as he indicated with his right index finger. His left hand represented their surroundings. Quickly, he motioned for his apprentice to follow their intended target up to the roof. He went on to suggest for Izanami to follow suit, but from a different direction, one flanking the mysterious climber. As for himself, he would come from the opposite direction.

Another nod was given and the young nagai was off, moving as silently as it were possible, both using the rain as cover and using stealth.

Master Ash did not presume to give instructions to a samurai warrior of such legendary status as the former Shogun Champion that was Kyokan, but he make sure the orokujin saw what they planned.

In such moments, they could not afford to hesitate. Danger was clear and present and demanded an immediate response. That responsibility fell to them.

    “Go.” He whispered.

Master Ash had chosen the longer path, not only because he could move faster than his student and reach the same destination almost simultaneously, but also because he suspected their uninvited guest might not be alone. That was something he was better suited to investigate as he made his way to the roof, given his unique talents.

    ~Arkalia, Stav~
    ~Torawei Estate, Darksahn Gol~

    7:20 pm

During the darkest of nights, there was always a faint light. This night was no different though an almost unnatural feeling was slowly creeping in on what was normally be a pristine starry night. One could feel it building, though it was a matter of if one would accept the growing concern on the air. A still silence, that swept over the whole compound. It was easy to get lost in it all, there was peace to it and there was also unrest. The darkness always masked something, concealing good and bad at times. An unknown that pulled at all being’s souls, one could either accept this premise and know that certain things were left to be uncontrolled or one could waste time trying to tame the un-tamable.

Admiring its wonder, even when evil loomed was peaceful. Pure darkness one would describe it as. And extreme and balance to pure light, both equally as powerful and necessary.

"INTRUDERS! TO ARMS! PROTECT THE KHAN!" The alarm and announcement spread through the compound as lights from lanterns and houses began to dot the surrounding city of Darksahn Gol, spreading out sporadically as word moved through the population areas.
Even as the alarms sounded Stav seemed to remain fixated on the night sky. Was this really where he wanted to be? The yearning to float away was strong, the pull of his family to the afterlife, wanting to join them. He was tired of fighting, and this on the eve of his gracious introduction into the Khan’s service. Something he did not take likely, nor was it something he dismissed unappreciatively.

Stav could already hear the scuffle and sounds of ruckus beginning, as the call to arms echoed throughout with intruders seeking to wreak havoc. He did not want to break away from the view, even as he knew things were beginning to transpire about.

“I am sorry my love, I pray to the Dragons that I will see you again soon. Children… I love you and embrace you with my heart. Forgive me for not being there.” A tear began to trickle down his cheek, as the emotion of the moment pulled strongly at him. The visage of the Khan’s daughter flashed in his mind, drawing him back out of the moment. As much as he wanted to let go, he had a purpose. The reason the Khan had brought him into his service. Was this a noble and worthy cause? Was it honorable? Stav wondered if his true identity would ever be known to the Khan. Despite his honorable showing on the Mountain Pass, he was still a cast out. Lower than a slave. Dishonored and stripped of all he had ever had and held sacred. Stav wondered how long the mask he wore would hold, against the Khan’s insight and kindness. This was something he had to push out of his mind. Now was not the time and the place.

The threat was still veiled, not clear… having moved into the compound quickly, there was little time to assess the threat. Counteraction necessary! Whomever or whatever was moving, they were moving quickly and they HAD a purpose!

They were already in, that was evident. Two things were prevalent and of utmost importance. Stemming the tide of additionally entries into the compound and securing the most vital assets.

    The gate and walls.

    The Khan’s family.

Stav pried himself from the ledge he had been leaning against, staring into the dark night sky, and quickly made his way to the ledge of the second floor facing the main gate below. Stav noticing another samurai below facing the main gate one story below, a young girl with dark red hair holding her position below. Stav turned back to the Zabrak. “We need to reinforce her!” Stav spoke in a commanding voice, the ease of it seeming to be natural and unmistakably showing to his experience. “Stay here cover us from above!” Stav knew not if the Zabrakhad any ranged weapons on him, or for that matter if he had the ability to wield them. He would either have to learn quickly and find something to support them with, or join them in the fray on the lower gate courtyard.

Stav bound over the edge of the railing and down, landing in the courtyard and coming up quickly in a low stance. Searching and looking out for further signs of the gate being breached and intruders already in the compound. His thoughts were on the Khan’s family and their safety, the need to secure them quickly. Stav hoped that the Khan’s protection would be able to hold out long enough for them to secure the gate and them allow them to move inward to defend his family and him.

Stav scanned the courtyard looking upward along the walls for signs of movement. Reaching down Stav grabbed a simple pike that looked to have been abandoned by a dispatched guard. Readying himself for the silent darkness of the night to be further broken.
