My copy is sitting in my mailbox, too big to fit through the end of the mailbox I can open (apartment-style mailbox where the mailman puts the mail in through the back and I open the front, which unfortunately is slightly smaller).

Really, really annoying to have it so close and yet still inaccessible.

    That is hilarious. [face_laugh]

JS, the book just fit in the mailbox from the back where the mailman puts it in the box, but the hole RJ has to take the book out of on the other side is just too small for the book to fit through.

Exactly. And its not so hilarious when I'm standing there trying to figure out how to get the dang thing out!

I left a note for the mailman to take it to the apartment's office, which is what usually happens with packages anyway. So hopefully I can get it that way tomorrow.

I'm about halfway through right now. Wax is pretty cool, love Wayne, and Marasi makes me chuckle a bit.

I just finished the book, and all I have to say is MARSH!!!!! :D

Though it was short compared to everything else I've read by brandon, it was exciting. The Epilogue is what made it for me though, it makes me want more from these characters.

Nice to see it isn't just me that likes the elegance of the UK cover! Don't know why, but more often than not I dislike US cover art on fantasy books, seems quite generic - though there is that Whelan cover for Way of Kings that I love.

    I enjoyed it thoroughly.

After catching up on the Dresden Files, I just couldn't find any fantasy series I liked and retreated back into scifi. A friend recommended me this and so I picked it up. I enjoy stories on a grand scale, and while it starts small, Mistborn really builds up. The Well of Ascension is currently in the mail; cannot wait for that.

As for that strange review, it highlights some of the problems I've noticed lately with people. Why is it considered "realistic" if everyone in a book is amoral? The second any character tries anything noble it's suddenly "naive." What, does no one around these critics try anything good?

And why does everything have to be morally ambiguous for it to be considered realistic? Everything in real life isn't morally gray.

As mentioned in the other thread, the only reason I wasn't sure if Alloy of Law was going to be next was getting Scholar at pretty much the same time. But Alloy of Law is shorter, so I did decide to start with it :)

Being sick meant I had lots of time to read the last couple of days... and both are awesome, as expected :D

Though the names of the main characters in Alloy of Law (especially when taken together) made me groan. Wax and Wayne, really?

I really liked it. I forgot how well he writes action scenes. Awesome.

It's funny seeing all the former characters as almost mythological figures. And the High Imperial writing made me laugh.

The Epilogue was interesting, as was the Ars Arcanum.

I wonder if there will be a sequel to this? Before I read it I would have said no, but now I'm not so sure.

Yeah, and the city and town names were awesome. I like the "Ascendent Warrior" part too.

I agree - before I thought definitely no sequel, but it definitely seems to invite one. Right now, though, Sanderson has other things on his plate :p

Yeah, I'll say 8-} Which doesn't mean he won't add one to his plate, especially since one huge project will be finished in a few months :p

I had to put the book down and laugh for awhile when they got to the part with the "high imperial" dialect. :p

I would personally like to see him expand this with a sequel, maybe even turn it into a trilogy. Though I would also like to see this turned into a movie. [face_blush]
