Breaking the Jedi code was Mace's doom.
He went to murder the defensless Sids.
Skywalker saw this and realized the Jedi where no diffrent, than the Sith. He told Mace, that he needed Sids and Mace did not care. When Mace was going to murder him, Skywalker saw the corruption of the Jedi. Mace confirmed to Skywalker, what he was thinking all along. THat the Jedi are corrupt.

    Is Mace a good Jedi?

I don't see it as that big of a deal, even if it is technically agaist the Jedi Order. I mean, how are you gonna arrest him. He has control over all the Senate, plus he's the friggin Sith Lord. It's not like he's just gonna let them lock him up, and then sit in a jail cell, and await trial. Like Mace said, he's way too dangerous. Not sure what a better alternative would have been.

Even once Yoda discovers the truth he insists to Obi-Wan, they must destroy the Sith.

While Anakin may have found that to be the reasoning to kill Mace, he truly just wanted to just save Padme and Palpatine was the only one who could possibly help. While what Mace did may be considered wrong by the Jedi counsel, Mace was truly doing the right thing. If Mace had just arrested Palpatine the Jedis still would have been screwed up, with full support from the senate Palpatine would have been freed and then declare the Jedi enemies later on. And it's not like your a bad Jedi if you break a rule, Luke is one of the greatest Jedis and he's now technically breaking a rule by marring Mara Jade.

Sids knew this would look bad, and it did to Skywalker. When Mace says you are under aresst after he kicks him down. Skywalker is cool with that. When Mace raises his saber,Skywalker realizes that Mace is corrupt. Mace is telling Skywalker he does not trust him and so on. Skywalker has to hide Padame and his love for her, from Jedi like Mace. He cant go to them for help.He knows that they will kick him out.So when Mace is going to murder Sids, he realizes that Mace is a hypocrite.

Hm, it's not in the Jedi code to make prisoners and give a proper trial to everyone.

Revenge, that's against the Jedi code.

All the Siths needed to be destroyed, they threatened the balance in the Force.

Obi to Ani: "You've become the very thing you swore to destroy"

Destroying the Sith isn't against the Jedi Code
