Bringing it up again: Who is Anakin's Father?

I have enough of trying to guess. Is Darth Sidious (aka Palpatine) really Anakin's father? I've heard tons of rumours about it. Call me crazy, but for some reason, this gut feeling tells me the dad is Qui-Gon. Unbelieveable...

 

i have alway said qui-gon jin was anakins father personaly.(officaly midichlorians it is though)

 

The will of the Force is his father. Accept it.

I believe the theory that Dooku is Anakin's father & that there will be in a scene in Episode III in which Palpatine tells Anakin to strike down his father (which he does unlike Luke).

 

It's Yoda, 'He was concieved by the whill of the force', Yoda's species is spectulated a whill, so why not =p

 

Well, he's had several father figures: Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, even Watto. Eventually, it will be the Emperor.

I absolutely HATE the idea of Palpatine as Anakin's father. It seems to me that if that was indeed the case, it would have come up in the OT. Like when Vadar said, Luke, I am your father, and then Luke screams NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.....then Vadar could have been, and by the way, the Emperor is your Grandfather. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..........

Anakin has no father. I don't think you can argue against it, as it is clearly said in the movie.

I can see it now, Anakin lashes out on Dooku in rage & cuts off his hand. Then Palpatine says:

"Your hate has made you powerful, now... fulfill your destiny & take your father's place at my side"

And unlike Luke, Anakin strikes his father down. Wouldn't that be a great parallel to the ending of ROTJ?

 

If Anakin wasn't concieved by the force, then he wouldn't be the chosen one. And he is the chosen one, so he has no father, as it was stated three times during TPM

 

Okay, I admit that the Force is most likely to be Anakin's father...but that doesn't explain why more people put down Qui-Gon Jinn as Anakin's father in the official TheForce.Net poll than the others, except the category None of the Above.

 

Well, some people also think Qui-Gon is Sifo-Dyas and that he erased the files in the Jedi Archives, thus making him a villian.

The lesson here is, don't trust the majority

Didn't you see Shmi's reaction when Qui-Gon asked her who is Anakin's father? I dunno, but it looks like she is hiding the truth or something. Maybe the father of Anakin just left, never showing fathership, so Shmi doesn't want to admit that Anakin actually has a father?

It looks to me like she's hesitant to tell Q-G something that would cause the vast majority of people to think she was just a flat-out lunatic. But luckily for her, Qui-Gon believed her and didn't ridicule her afterward (unlike most people would very quickly do).

 

Anakin has no father and I hate it when people say Sidious is his dad. I'd prefer Qui-Gon than that Sidious. But anyway, Anakin is conceived by the Force, which probably means he has no father. Accept the truth.

But how can the Force summon up a child inside a slave? Why didn't it summon Anakin up in someone else more...um...well, basically someone who is not a slave..?

I still believe Anakin has a father. The Force probably helped with his birth or something, destining him to be "the Chosen One" or at least the father of "the Chosen One".
