"You may want to consider that what you?re wearing has a negative effect on men (and women) around you,? read the letter. ?Many people come to this university because they feel safe, morally as well as physically, here. They expect others to abide by the Honor Code that we all agreed on. Please consider your commitment to the Honor Code (which you agreed to) when dressing each day. Thank you.

She's kind of cute. She makes me feel funny, therefore she is evil.

The guy who wrote that letter must have more issues than National Geographic.

What did he want her to wear, a burqa?

    OK, seriously?

I'm about that well covered when I go to work--at an elementary school, in the South.

I second the question about the burqa.

BYU's dress code is outrageously strict, and you agree to it as part of the application process - and really, anything they host, I didn't apply to their summer research grant because of said dress code. Guys have to wear polos and slacks while out, so it's not just women.

Stupid? Yes. But completely in line with how they say they'll react.

The school administration didn't have anything to do with this.

Also, exhibit z for why conservative religious institutions are bad: sexually repressing poor young men and teaching them to blame their "struggles" (as they call them) on women instead of themselves. ugh.

As opposed to "liberal religious institutions?"

I think it proves that BYU is seen as a nuthouse when it comes to fitting in with today's society. We have a similar nuthouse here in my home state, Bob Jones University.

However, I would assume that the majority of students attending universities like this chose to do so. In short, they knew what they were getting into, unless there were other circumstances, such as being forced into these prisons by their parents.

They did, but that doesn't justify the male student's ****ish behavior.

He should consider how his passive-aggressive notes fit in with BYU's honor code. :)

Um, yeah. I went to a Christian college and we didn't have a dress code.

I have to wonder if this person was "upset" about something the girl had worn a different day. That said, I think the complaint might be about the length of her dress. As I understand it, BYU students' skirts are supposed to be knee-length or longer.
