Det, MI C-3PO Memory wipe

I was watching Episode IV last night and 3PO said that he did not know what planet he was on when Luke was cleanig him. To me this is rather odd that he would forget that Anikan created him on Tatooine.

Could it be that he had a memory wipe and R2 to?

 

From what I've read, memory wipes for droids is a very common thing. And until 3PO and R2 came to Luke, I'm sure they both had their standard wipes when they were called for.

If I remember correctly, they wiped a droid's memory to keep the malfunctions down.

 

Let's say that you grew up playing in and around Lake Michigan,if you found yourself suddenly dropped into a body of water,would you automatically think `ah,I'm in Lake Michigan'?Most likely not.I agree that memory wipes were probably common,and also just because Threepio spent time on Tatooine doesn't mean that every time he finds himself in a desert,that he's automatically going to think it's Tatooine.

At least that's how I see it.I dunno...
