How did I know that comment would get you to chime in, my rather amorous friend? [face_batting] Of course, you did have a room with two ladies at last year's Comic Con if I remember right.

In the words of Luke Skywalker, "Wouldn't miss it". :D

That's very cool! I have her autograph so I'm not sure if I'll be willing to wait hours in line just to meet her. I'm really hoping Mark Hamill shows up!

Just putting this out there, but is anyone from SVRF going to CIV via driving? My bro and I were going to carpool with two others by renting a mini-van for a week. Now both of them can only be there Fri-Sat. I was planning to leave Tuesday night, possibly go to the FF gathering at Disneyland on Wednesday, and go to the hotel Wednesday night (we've got a room at the Comfort Inn, .9 miles away). Our hotel checkout is Tuesday, after the con ends.

Basically, I'm looking for someone driving (maybe we can all pitch in for a van?) who'll be leaving Tuesday, and coming back the following Tuesday. As for the duration of the con, I was originally planning on driving to the con each morning to: 1) park in the garage, and 2) I'd have a place to change in and out of costume and put away things I buy.

Hey-ah, Jedhed. I took-off Weds 5/23 thru Monday 5/28 (holiday) from work. I am contemplating departing my home in Elk Grove Tuesday night, if I can get everything loaded-up and ready Sunday and Monday night. My 12 year old Ella and I will be taking our fifth-wheel & crewcab pick-up truck (seats 5 adults comfortably-so room for 2 or 3 more adults). I will be parking my 5th wheel RV NEXT to the convention center in RV parking for the duration of C4, returning home Monday Memorial Day.

If this sounds good to you, a little fuel money per extra person and I'll gladly take extra Rogues (someone's gotta man the quad-guns afterall!). My RV and truck will be grounded while we are there though, as LA convention center says no in and out priv.'s
So, I could take you and drop you off one way at least.

I will have my RV open to all Rogues the entire event for changing, bounty, stuff and food storage, food/snack breaks, and even a propane campfire for the propane barbacue in the evenings. That is part of my plan for celebrating Celebration 4- an open house right next to our convention building.

Hey Rogues: I just sent my app. for volunteer at C4. My big question is- how are we doing the volunteer time for our table, combined with, vs. volunteering with GenCon and C4 event hosts? I marked 20 and/or 40 hours availability for volunteering with C4 GenCon staff.

My next question is: what kind of stuff do we have for our table, display, or whatever we use to say "Over here! We area SVRF."?
This question leads to my next question: How many banners, signs, posters, or "official" club stuff do we have, that we can take to C4? I ask because I am interested in doctoring-up my RV at the convention, so people can recognize SVRF even more (provided the group approves, and doesn't feel I've gone to the dark side, I mean, beyond the pale of sanctomonious fandom).

    Hi ekim :)

Also my vote would be to just keep the SVRF stuff to our table.

Hmm 20-40 hrs sounds like a lot especially if you volunteer at our table. You won't have enough free time to do all the fun stuff you want to do :)

Point well taken, Master Bith Lord (and corrected-see above).

I wasn't wanting to relocate the SVRF material or table-just hang a shingle (marker) outside, so people can use rig for changing costumes, storing bounty (large, secure, lockable storage area), and drink sodas and coffee, and open grill for lunch, etc.

I hadn't considered how long the SVRF table would be occupied. Did you attend C3? I am not a collector, so what do they have to do during the majority of the convention? Presentations, talks, autograph signings? I guess I was thinking if there was an aweful lot of down time, I might keep busy volunteering and see some cool stuff up front that way.

    I copied your pm BL-thanks bro![face_peace]

20-40 hours does sound like A LOT of time. I went to CIII and granted I was only able to go 2.5 days, but I had very little down time and I didn't get to see everything I wanted to see. Your big down time will probably be the time spent waiting in lines. There's the line to get in to the convention, lines for autographs, line for the store, lines for some of the special exhibits, and if George shows up again, well you can bet there will be a line for that too! Many people waited 8 hours in line for the store - hopefully they will improve that one with the 24-hour store.

This is shot in the dark, but if one volunteers A LOT (like 40 hours), wouldn't the C4 organizer folks hook you up with all kinds of first's in line, "backstage-hook-ups", star escorts, and the opportunity to see things everyone else doesn't get to see? ... Or, are the volunteers so busy volunteering they don't get any free time to see all of the magical stuff? [face_thinking]

I have no idea what a convention on this scale will look like, so for those of you who went to the other Celebrations: Does this one seem to be the mother of all? The LA convention center appears to be really huge, and GenCon appears to want to make this the "mother of all" SW conventions. That would definitely influence me to volunteer a lot or not (which way I'm not sure of yet).[face_hypnotized]

I appreciate your input everybody, and forgive me for my early excitement![face_dancing]

I think volunteers may get some extra perks, but I'm not sure what they are. I've heard Official Pix is looking for volunteers too, but that is separate from the other convention volunteers. Since they're doing the autographs, you might have a chance to work with some celebs!

I can't wait until they come out with a schedule. The schedule will give you an idea what you really want to see and you can plan accordingly.

And there's nothing wrong with getting excited early. That's half the fun! :D

At C3, one of the perks I believe was easier access to the store. Since lines were hours, hours, hours, and hours long, that was a definate perk. However with the 24 hour store, I don't think it would be that much of a perk. And Leia is correct with the Autograph room. That's handled seperately by the Autography company.

I tried to find an event schedule from C3 to give you an idea of what will go on, but couldn't find one. Anyone have a link to C3's schedule?

Hi there. It sounds like you guys really have a plan together. Right now I'm just trying to make it at all, with my move and stuff. Hopefully a 1-way plane ticket in July won't be more than $200, less would certainly be nice. I have also submitted my application for volunteering for 20 or 40 hours. I put "Completed Application - 40 Hours Preferred" for my subject line (I emailed it as a TIF Form). I understand we get free admission and 1/4 of our hotel room with a maximum rate of $200 per night (I guess they'll pay up to $50 per night for each volunteer). I guess that means if 4 vol's share a room and each is doing 40 hours, no one pays a thing for lodging. That's what I'm going for. Hopefully I'll find 3 other volunteers to bunk with if I am accepted. So, you guys have your own booth, huh? I'll certainly have to look for that. What will you guys be doing at that booth again??? Well anyway, better get off. It may be days again before I get back online. This is performance weekend, tomorrow morning is our first curtain call (I'll barely have time to go to tomorrow's Prayer Breakfast), and we're performing right through Monday, if Saturday's hit-the-cellar weather doesn't cause that day to be cancelled. Catch ya guys later (gosh darn it, I still have to get a plane ticket!).

Pardon me if I'm wrong, but did you say several post back that you were going to enter the Cabaret performance? Did you enter at C3?

If anyone saw the Cabaret or the Pageant at Celebration 3, I was "Padme on her wedding day" with that white long dress. I sang "Your Padme Through the Light Years" to the same tune as Helen Reddy's "Candle on the Water." If anyone saw and remember the look I gave to Warwick Davis like "What the heck???", that look was more for the lady overseeing it because I had emailed her an updated verstion of my opening speech. I had written the first one before I found out the words had to be Star Wars themed. Then I wrote the words I sang and changed the speech. I got paranoid because the correct opening intro for me had not reached him. Yes, I was hoping to be in both this year as well, provided I manage to get that Padme blue ballgown made. The words to this years song, which I had written within a week of returning from C3 (I wasn't trying to, it just came to me), can only be sung by "Padme heavy with child," and I just prefer a formal as opposed to that little piece she wore on Mustafar, or any battle dress outfit. I know the volunteering could get in the way, but unlike last time I can't be too picky if I don't have time to make it. It's just a "prepare just in case I can" kind of thing.

Forgive me if I sound, as 3PO might say, "rather rash", but I don't understand how SVRF having their own table, as opposed to having your fliers on the Pacific Region Fan Force table and working that table instead, be beneficial in getting to see more of the convention. With the PRFF table, you have more FF members working the table, thus less time for you to work the table with more time to enjoy the con. For example, I worked just 1 hour at the PRFF table during the entire 4 days at CIII, and it was during my lunch hour, and I got a good amount of signatures and inquiries about SFFF.
