    Hey all!
MiraxTHorn-I have to say your hair turned out absolutely gorgeous! It looked just like Padme's! And your voice was great, and such a sweet lady!
Obi-Dawn-your dress-the fabrics, the flowers-all of it was just beautiful!
Nostradamus-glad to finally meet you-thanks so much for the officer help-Jason got compliments all weekend, and we are getting tons of pressure to join the 501st! And all of the pics I have seen so far of Quincy do not even do that little girl justice! When I saw her for the first time upstairs in the Senator Amidala dress and her makeup-she looked SO beautiful!!! I loved seeing all of the Amidala dresses you have made!
Qui-GonTim-thanks for escorting me and bearing with me backstage...I appreciate it.
Also-to creaturecreator-I loved your winning costume, as well as you Zam Wesell...some of us DID notice! It is on my list of ones to do in the future. I also loved your cool attitude about it all-some as talented as you can sometimes be a bit arrogant...and you were gracious to everyone who talked to you.
As we speak, I am revamping my pre-senate headpiece for AOTC...I practically hung over the archive to get clear pictures from all angles...and I am trying to make it a bit less painful to wear this time...he he he
I am disappointed in the pictures up on the websites that the sleeve embroidery isn't showing up...to those of you who didn't go...IT IS THERE! ha ha ha
I also wanted to say I also thought the contest was to be based on costume more than production-and while I was pleased with the results in general, I was a little dissapointed in my category-there were a lot of wonderful entrants that didn't seem to get a second glance. From what people were saying who watched it, Ian and Warwick were going more with presentation, while Trisha was doing difficulty/detail of costume.
Nos-I got pics of the Senator gown in the archive-if you cannot get any, I have some front and back-and I saw you Anakin, Jango, and your little ANH Leia with her dad at Steak and Shake! Great work!

Thanks, everyone for the compliments on the wampa (and the Zam). It was practically a whole year of my life between the two of them. I love what I do and have been accused of being arrogant before because I so love what I do and can do. In my mind, though, I love to see all of the stuff that normal everyday people can make. It blows my mind to see even the simplest costume pulled off to such painstaking detail. That is what drove me to make Zam as accurate as I could. I'm my own worst critic and I know that my colors need a little work, but there was a lot of detail in each piece that I extracted from every photo available on that one. I was extremely proud of it even if some people did not think as highly of it. The wampa, on the otherhand, started out as a mission to see a full sized wampa get its arm cut off on stage at the Celebration. People laughed at me when I first said it and said 'keep dreaming.' If there's one thing each of you can learn from that last sentence, no matter how ridiculous the idea, IT CAN BE DONE. It took 3 generations of wampa just to get it so that I could get around in it. Even my best friends doubted me.

Now what I really want to see is the film of the show. I was stuck in a stack of chairs behind the curtain and missed all the action. I heard that the little Maul and Jango were fantastic (never doubted it) and the Amidala costumes were beautiful. FOr the adult costumes, I particularly liked the Hammerhead costume and the Bantha. I told the Bantha that they should drop tootsie rolls on the stage next time as they walked. I'd been in stitches over that. I would've liked to have seen the Taun Taun skit as well. I do not mean to miss anybody. Everybody's a winner here.

Everyone is. :~) Maybe rather than a complaint, we could offer suggestions for "next time"?

I found us! Unfortunately, they took the pic after Bria had to leave....:~(

Wampa was awesome and so was Tauntaun. My vote was for Tauntaun. Wished we could have seen them both on stage :( I hope someone comes up with a video. You really did an amazing job and good for you for not listening to those who said "it can't be done".

I got a shot of all of us, GB. I think I can get it scanned in tomorrow. It's us after a hard day's work protecting the Queen. ;)

Oh, I think I can make out two of my fellow handmaidens in that shot of everyone onstage. Right next to Ulic. ;)

Out of curiosity, anyone know if the guy dressed up as Ulic posts here? He was right before us in line. :)

Obi-Dawn Kenobi: In that picture you posted earlier today that you are in, which one are you? I know I spoke to the two gals on the right of the TPM throne room queen. Is either of them you?

To all of your handmaiden ladies: Which one of you came up to me on Saturday and asked me if I posted on the boards and if I supposed to be in your contest group? I was dressed in the throne room handmaiden dress.

Ummm... that would probably be me. :) I mostly went with the battlemaidens I saw, but heh, I was trying very hard to find the two other girls in our group, so I did ask some in different handmaiden gowns. :D

iycis: you made the throne room dress? The yellow one? I love that one! Do you have any pictures? Please?

Everyone else: I want more pictures! I keep going to all the sites with CII pictures, but they never have any of the costume contest. There're only so many pictures of miscellaneous-Star-Wars-stars-sitting-behind-tables that I want to see.

Nostradamus, I've only found ONE picture of the kids in costume. ONE. And the girl dressed as Sabé is barely visible in that one.

It's been almost a week, peoples! Get those photos scanned already!

    :)

    Rékda!!!! Where have you been???

Did anyone else get a pic of Dormé's purplish gown? I got a very blurry one! But....wow!

Also, has anyone thought of suggesting/petitioning for a costume book? It could be a collection, much like the "Art of SW" type collection, but solely focused on the myriad of costumes that have been a part of the saga.

And, as it's the weekend, I certainly look forward to more folks posting their pics!

Congrats again to everyone...I really, really enjoyed getting to see so many people!

Sorry I haven't been doing much of anything 'normal' since CII. We are in the middle of a press 'junket' right now.
Yesterday we were on local FOX-TV, local ABC this morning. Sunday we will be on all stations (I know it) Wednesday we will be on WGN-TV and then thursday maybe FOX again.
Today we went on an 8-hour walking tour of downtown Chicago. I am so tired.

Did anyone see the guy that I think was Kir Kanos? That costume was great. I love his force siv that he had on his belt. If you are here, I would love to hear how you made it. Congrats to everyone. I'm still mad that a rebel trooper made me stop video taping.

They said no video or flash pictures. I tried to take some with out the flash but they didn't turn out too well. I do think they had someone taping it for the Convention folks. You may want to try and Email someone at WOTC and see if they will have a copy available to people.

It's my fault Bria had to leave at the end.. sorry. :( But as it was we were driving until 4am and I was pushing it a bit at the end there. Any later and we would have needed to stop and stay somewhere.

Still thanks to everyone! That Contest was one of my weekend highlights!

I don't blame you, Doright. :) Yeah, sure I would've liked to have stayed, but hey, if it weren't for you letting me ride with your family I wouldn't have even been there. ;)

My pictures, for the most part came out ok. Unfortunately they didn't all scan out the best, but the scanner I used at school was pretty cheap. Anyway, if anyone would like to look...

    CelebrationII Pics

Pictures 42-50 aren't during the costume contest but I started taking them where all the contestants met up before being moved to the hallway.

If the person who's son was the little Chewbacca is reading/posting here, he was so precious! Absolutely adorable. [face_love]

ANNE BROWN IS ANSWERING HER EMAIL AGAIN.

I mailed her a very nice and civil letter that explained our most common complaints about the show. Her response will be given great scrutiny. I will tell you when it arrives.

A brief introduction is in order:

You saw me at the convention dressed as "Jorg Sacul". I had thought that 5 or 10 people would get the joke, but it mushroomed into the coolest weekend of my life. I'd had the x-wing pilot costume for a couple years, and couldn't have had a better time wearing it!

When I wasn't dressed as "Jorg", I was dressed as "George", in flannel shirt, jeans, and white shoes. Perhaps the easiest costume I've ever put together!! It all stemmed from some folks in the Indy Knights saying I resembled George Lucas. I decided to go with it. Much more comfortable than 25 lbs. of ABS plastic armor!

The funniest thing is, my real name IS George, so to have people call me that all weekend long was totally cool. I must've posed for 500 pictures--and I am humbly honored to have been asked by each person who wanted to snap one. I know my friends put up with a lot of delay in me even walking down the hall for all the pics, and I appreciate them for their patience.

Now, to all of you people who I saw in the REAL costumes, in the halls and on stage for the Costume Contest... YOU RULE!! I've been to lots of Trek and Sci-fi conventions in the past, but you were amazing! Costume-watching was my primary focus for the convention, and I was immensely thrilled by what I saw. Amazing. Incredible. Inspiring!! To see so much hard work (obviously) pay off in the results was just plain awesome!

To the winners of the contest who received the Medallions, I am so terribly proud and honored that I was asked to sculpt the 3PO face for them. My friend Gregg Nowling made the base, and did the casting. I hope you like them! It is a completely huge thrill to have made something that now bears the words (C) Lucasfilm, Ltd. on it.

Ann gave Gregg and I each one with the plaque on back to keep as souvenirs.
I'm asking my girlfriend to make a display frame for it, so that it can be viewed from both sides. I may enclose my "Jorg Sacul" figure with it....NAH! I still have him standing atop my computer. The package is somewhere? I dunno. It is my new favorite toy. I can't wait to recast the head, for putting on other figures that I want to make costumes for!

Thanks for reading, and most of all, keep up your hard work costuming!

    R2-B9

I'm soooooooooo happy! I saw my picture! In that picture from the offical site, with Amidala in the middle, and the Naboo senator and the meadow dress and then the two girls in Padmes rainbow dress, the one on the far left was me!. Excuse me for being silly, but I've never had my picture on the internet before! :)

By the way, everyone keeps saying that queen seamtress was there. Why didn't I see her?

Obi Dawn Kenobi: That was you? I talked to you for awhile, during the contest. Your meadow dress costume turned out really well.

Amidala-Leia: Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed them. :)

R2-B9: Awesome! I saw you as both George and Jorg Sacul. Very awesome job. Wish I'd asked for a picture with you... :D

Princess1: Coolness! I spoke to you! I was the blue handmaiden and asked if you if your costume was cool and you said while it looks that way, it was really hot. Something to that efffect. :)

Reka, I have found that after developing all my pics from the Celebration, they're all from the waist up. So you wouldn't be able to see the whole dress anyway. I'll be wearing it on Wed. night to see ATOC with several other costumed friends so maybe I'll get some better pics of it then to post.
