C3PO Irony

Anyone find it ironic says "thank the maker" in ANH, when he is going against Dath Vader??

 

Me, when I'm watching that scene I'm just thinking "Thank the Maker, huh? Man, if only you knew, you'd sure change your tune in a hurry!"

 

Or "I'm really starting to get used to this flying."

 

It is most certainly irony. The wonders of a mind wipe, wish i could get one sometimes

 

Since Robot's aren't programmed to believe in "god" the statement "thank the maker" is the functional equivelent of us saying "thank god"

but it does cause one to raise an eyebrow once you realized that C-3PO was built by Anakin

 

I always took a special notice to that statement, as it was a way of him thanking his "creator"
But now, in light of Ep 3, it definately is a form of dramatic irony, considering we know who the maker is...

Its actually one of those millions of minor lines and or shots that have deeper meaning now that the PT has been made.

Thank the Maker!!!
