C4 Singles!

I know you're pain all to well. I grew up in a small town/rural county where the favorite hidden pastime was cheating on your "signifigant other".

 

I'm from a small town myself, besides there aren't any prospects here. The thing I like best is doing spur of the moment things without too much consultation.

 

Well, I live in a town of about 200,000. That's not small but by no means the big city either. there aren't very many cool male scifi geeks hereabouts. For a town of our size, there seems to be an inordinate number of truck and tractor pull lovers if you get my drift.The cool scifi geeks I do meet are usually married or they are the same gender as I. (Hi fellow Mos Everett Gals!!!!)

I think I will remain single for the rest of my days.

Hi, I've been lurking on the boards since C IV was announced in May, and figured it was probably time to start posting! (I wanted to start earlier, but work and uni kept getting in the way - I need to check my priorities!)

My name's Emma, I'm 25 and I live in Perth, Australia, the most isolated city in the world. I'm travelling to LA by myself, because I am by far the geekiest out of my friends, most of whom laughed (nicely) when I told them I was going to the US for Star Wars' 30th anniversary.

I am single and would love to get together with you guys for a singles party or just a friendly drink.

Yes, first trip to the US, The_Sith_Hunter. Can't wait! I am going to Hawaii for four days on the way to LA, and on a Contiki trip around the west coast after the convention. It's a long way to travel for four days of SW stuff, so I've got to add on as much as I can to get my money's worth.

 

Great itinerary... think you'll have great weather too, so that'll be nice. And the kids won't quite be out of school yet, so the state won't be so overrun with vacationers. It makes a difference, trust me .

 

That definitely sounds like fun! I bet your friends are jealous now!! I know I am a little. I've not been to Hawaii yet...

 

I didn't even think about school kids on holiday ValedaKor - glad to see it won't be much of an issue.

If my friends are jealous, they're covering it pretty well with the laughing. My uncle and a coworker are the only two SW fans I know, so at least they're jealous. Hehe.

 

people keep asking me why I'd go to a star wars convention for a vacation...

I tell them that I have

a) a much better time than sitting on a beach getting skin cancer
b) a much better chance of meeting people I'll have a fun time with
and
c) increased odds of finding a geeky significant other (dude is out there somewhere, I just haven't hunted him down yet)

 

I know someone from Perth! her name is Kerrie. It would be crazy if you knew her, but I dont know if saying that is as ridiculous as you going "oh i know someone from Orange County, her name is Jane"

 

TK2187, I know a woman named Kerry, but it's with a Y... There are 1.5 million people in Perth, so it was a long shot!

I think C4 will be my biggest vacation next year, too. So is there going to be a mixer where we all wear our "Hello, I'm...." nametags?

 

Nothing's been quite decided yet. Still waiting to see what the schedule looks like.

I'm not sure what you mean... besides, I don't know how public one would want to make what should be private conversation .

 

Or in my case a nice Star Wars man close to my age.
