Anyway, for all you LotR (edit) aficionados out there, there's an open sandbox engline called Outerra, which lets you design your own world. Somebody recreated Middle-earth in 1:1 size!

Jacen set Kashyyyk ablaze, not Middle Earth. Some LotF afficionado you are.

Nah, that was just Troy Denning. He likes to set things on fire.

Hey, there are people still, still making a 1:1 recreation of Middle Earth in Minecraft by hand, i.e. not using any sort of world editor or mass-terraform mod. http://www.mcmiddleearth.com/

I would have to imagine their job got a lot harder after the Hobbit movies started coming out.

It's round after Illuvatar sinks Numenor and removes Valinor from the world. Or something to that effect.

Hmm. Makes me start wondering about the weather patterns looking at that map.

Community- yet again, behind the scenes indicates no Jeff/Annie resolution for the season. Sigh. Least it doesn't sound like they plan to sink it. Just continue to tease and drag it out with no payoff.
Still looking forward to the episode tonight.

Anyone else enjoying Brooklyn 99 as much as I am?

Huh. Bieber was arrested? Too bad he will just end up with a slap on the wrist, and millions of "fans" saying how unfair he is being treated.

I'm catching up on Brooklyn Nine Nine- had only seen the pilot before but the tivo I got in nob can do multiple recordings now so I'm grabbing the reruns.

Surprisingly enjoyable- almost vaguely reminds me of 30 Rock in terms of sense of humor just without the cartoon style .

That map is very suspicious. Where are they getting the geography of Harad? And it's hard to see up there, but it doesn't look like Tol Fuin is on the map. C-

Probably from Atlas of Middle Earth. With some extrapolation, as it is pretty much a blank in that book.

Community- decent episode, not the best. Emotional Troy moments. Feel sorry for Abed, but a certain action he does in the episode cements him in my mind as the "villain" of season 5.

I would guess ICE's old Middle-Earth RPG, personally. But it's actually a beautiful map, I'm just even more nitpicky as a Tolkien fan than SW. ;)

As a Middle-earth fan, I can confirm that RC-1991 didn't make any of those names up.

Illuvatar is God (in the Catholic sense), Valinor is sorta heaven/Eden, Numenor is this island the Valar gifted to the faithful houses of Mankind for their steadfast loyalty during the First Age. Those people became the Numenorians, AKA the Dunedain. Aragorn and the Arnorian/Gondorian kingship are distantly descended from a branch of the Numenorian royal family that refused to turn their backs on the Valar and the Elves once the Numenorians started to get corrupted.

Seriously, go read the Silmarillion. "The Tale of the Children of Hurin" is easily Tolkien's best work, if also his darkest.

Aren't the Children of Hurin like, the Children of Vader, without Obi-Wan around.
