    Dibs on the ERE.

Actually, no, that's unfair. We should all start at duke tier to be fair. In that case, dibs on the Repubblica di Amalfi (which is gonna be introduced in ToG).

I'd probably go for Duke of the Isles, or if we do CKII+ some German, Balkan, or Baltic state that I can turn into an empire.

Yeah, that was a bad decision.

On the other hand, at least you'll be able to listen to it without constantly thinking about the running commentary of Luke/Biggs jokes.

Yay, 4000 posts! For some reason I always like to hit these milestones in Lit. [face_party]

Anyway, I'm already halfway done with my finals, with most of the rest coming today and tomorrow.

Ah, rare to see an EUCer 'round these parts these days. I think you're well familiar with social threads, in that case.

Also, nice icon. I'm glad to say I actually get the reference, seeing as it has to do with the one and only episode of that show I've actually seen :p

Ooo, a star! What great incentive to post. :p

Today I'm presenting my project for the Senior Project class, and tomorrow I'm presenting my game for Game Design class. Last but not least my final for one of my psych classes is next week.

LI: That particular episode, yes. It stars Carey Mulligan, I had to see it! :p

JM_1977 -- oh, well then you're in for a treat. The X-wing books are the best of the EU, imo. Feel free to stick around Lit -- EUC and Lit used to be tightly integrated in the good old days, after all.

Todd: Game design? Man, that sounds awesome. What did you make? I remember programming a Choose Your Own Adventure Star Wars game in Pascal back in high school... I tried to really emulate the tendency of those books to lead to gruesome death at every possible moment.

Also, ATTN Trek nerds: (this is sort of beyond amazing)

    #!

The world always needs more Choose Your Own Adventure games. I was particularly pleased to see the Lone Wolf books made freely available.

I should upload my game. I remember my teacher being perplexed by the presence of an Anzati and asked if the reference his proboscis was pornographic [face_laugh]

I finished my Archaeology of Ancient States final yesterday (argued that the Zapotecs were a primary state, then wrote an essay on Cowgill's theory of collapse/fragmentation), and now I have a take-home Latin final.

Yes, you read that last bit correctly.

Jello I made a side-scrolling action adventure game about an anthropomorphic crocodile with a drill for an arm. He fights giant karate-chopping frogs and an evil magician/knight who controls the power of the moon. But game design isn't really my thing, I'm more in it for the 3D animation and modeling. I've even made some SW starships for fun.

Seriously? A take home? What's the point of that? You should be made to sight read a passage of Tacitus in 30 minutes with no aid whatsoever. :p

Well, just remember your declensions. Don't assume something is second when it should be third. Don't forget to account for neuter. And watch your sequence of tenses. :p

edit: Todd: Modeled existing starships or created whole new ones?

What's even better is the test is entirely comprehension-based.

Man, I wish we could have had those when I took Latin in high school.

And Jello, existing ships. I've made stuff ranging from the X-Wing and Falcon to the Executor and Redemption, as well as some EU ships like the TIE Defender.

Your high school actually offered Latin?

Yeah, and I know how uncommon that is, especially in public school, so it was nice. Latin 1 is offered as a two-year program in Middle School, then as a 1-year program in high school, along with Latin 2-5, with AP for 4 and 5 available as well. And the middle school teacher is wicked into it. He regularly takes trips to Italy and other locations and participates in archeological digs.

My first experience with Latin was in sixth grade... promptly forgot most of it after that, but still, I think the fact that I learned it so young helped my interest later on.

And that teacher sounds awesome. I haven't been to Italia in five years... one of my friends here grew up literally two blocks from the Colosseum, and I am always eternally jealous.

That's being into Italian archaeology, not Latin. :p

Since I'm not a LOTR person, I'd never even heard of the thing until it appeared all over facebook after the movie... but I guess so! I'm glad I even got the reference.

Old School > new school (is that even a thing?)
