I've been to Pittsburgh. And I love the city. However, Houston is no Pittsburgh. Houston is... a business necessity, nothing more. [face_not_talking]

98 here, which is about as far north from Texas as you can get without seeing snow.

93 here in DC - with moderate humidity. It won't be too bad until August, when we all wilt.

Why are you talking about that book series that doesn't exist? :p

Also -- ugh, I'm about to get shots. I usually don't have a problem with them and needles don't bother me, but I'm about to get five. That's a bit much.

Here in Florida. Hot, especially when you have to change out a battery.

It's high 80s up in New England and New York. I say both because I've been in both today, but mostly NY. It's humorous how the cyclists on the Brooklyn Bridge are even ruder when it's hot, especially with all those unknowing tourists around. :p

There are parts of Houston that are good. Also if it is only 92 then you lucked out.

Anyone have any suggestions on what to do in Philadelphia?

It was 85 or so earlier here in Pocahontas County, West Virginia.

Also I actually ended up teaching kids how to hold the .22s today and it turned out alright.

My antiperspirant quit about mid-afternoon today, and I wear the good stuff. It was only in the high 80s but that North Carolina humidity... [face_frustrated] Oh, Summer, you and I are only friends because it's the time of my long vacation.

And yeah, this probably makes me spoiled but I don't care: two household items I would never live without are air conditioning and a dishwasher.

On a non-SW note, does anyone here read the Pocketbooks ST: Enterprise series? It's latest novel is out this week, set in the early years of the United Federation of Planets and featuring the cast of Enterprise. I just ordered my copy on Amazon.com. The early Federation is interesting in that you have four major races combining their political and naval powers into a new unified structure. In alot of ways, I imagine it parallels the challenges faced by the early Republic when the Core Worlds began to unite.

So the out-of-council troops who are in camp this week are kind of whiny. "It's too hot!" "Do they really have to shoot such big guns?" (our shotgun merit badge uses 20 gauges. 20 GAUGES. A five-year old could shoot the damn things!) "The internet is so spotty!" (We are in the middle of the Greenbank Exclusion Zone near the National Radio Astronomic Observatory, it's a miracle that we even have internet, and forget cell reception. Everyone in the nearest town just uses CB radios.) Waru forbid a rustic Boy Scout camp out in an extremely rural area of WEST VIRGINIA not have a 5-star hotel complete with jacuzzis and foot massages.

Indeed. Just being in West Virginia is already more than enough reason to complain.
