    Oh for goodness sake.

    Pick yourself up, SFL (and SFL socks).

    We've won 4 of out last 5 ODI's against Aussie. This is their first win in any form of cricket over us this season. Their top order still suck...

    Get over your mourning, and hope we're at enough strength on Friday to beat SA and assure ourselves a place in the finals!

    It would be tragic to miss out now.

    how is it possible to *not* get into the finals.

    whats the scores?

    us: 17
    Auzie: 9
    SA: 8

    or something isnt it?

    Team Pts

    New Zealand 17
    Australia 13
    South Africa 13

    4 for a win (5 with bonus).

    So, if we lose to SA on Friday, and Aussie beat SA on Sunday, the points table will stand;

    New Zealand 17
    Australia 17 (or 18 with bonus)
    South Africa 17 (or 18 with bonus)

    If 2 (or 3) teams have the same points at the end, it comes down to number of matches won. If it's still a draw then it goes on run rate.

    <sigh>

    ND just lost in the semi final against Canterbury. Welly V Canters on Saturday. Should have been ND though.

    Fleming got fined, Vetorri's nearly dead and cairns is up the wazoo. We are going to have to be at the top of our game this weekend.

    Fleming tried to play defensively when they were at 82/6 and should have gone for the kill.

    Harry was just unfortunate that Bevan was in a "zone".

    Oh, and adding to the nearly-dead Vettori and stooped over Cairns, and heat-stroked Bond, we have an exploding heart on Vincent;

    (Today's NZ Herald)

    MELBOURNE - New Zealand's last-gasp loss to Australia provided yet another heart-pounding moment for cricket fans - and batsman Lou Vincent.

    The 23-year-old was whisked to hospital with a racing heart at the end of the game on Tuesday night, and remained in Melbourne as his team-mates departed for Perth.

    I fear that would kill Louie.

    Fleming said Vincent had suffered from a similar condition in the past and was expected to be okay.

    This is despite undergoing a procedure in which the patient's heart is apparently stopped and then restarted in order to obtain a more normal beat.

    The game has just started.

    Bond and Cairns are out due to injury. :(

    But we have South Africa at 1/11 after 4, and once again an opener departs for a duck.

    //sigh//

    The funny thing is if we lose and concede a bonus point (which looks likely), Aussie will need to beat SA with a Bonus Point on Sunday to make the finals - otherwise it'll be NZ vs. SA!

    Dunno if I'm a big fan of playing slow in order to give the Proteas a bonus point.

    Reminds me of Aussies go slow at the last world cup to try and prevent the Black caps from making the semis.

    Sure its within the letter of the law but its not in the spirit of the game IMO.

    Plus RSA will smoke us if we do make the finals, the Aussies have a much better chance against them. They own us.
