yeah of course ender that's what i/you have been saying the whole time.
What is a Flare? Assuming it is not a signalling or illumination device here.
It's kind of like a boat made of force.
Wait... am I you? Are we saying that about ourselves now? And if you're me, who is Tyler Durden?
@Ramza, mustn't feed the troll.
Isn't that the basic premise of the Austrian School? Saying how if one thinks critically about it the whole school of thought is reveled to be ideological hogwash that is the ideological equivalent to Marxism, but only on the right.
ender now i am totally confused. i am backing away.
we are all a part of flare, a part of the boat.
Murderers get to interact with human beings again so Mike Vick should get to own dogs again.
on topic, this book is on my "to read" list near the top. anyone happen to have read it?
bonus points if you can compare/contrast it with David Harvey's Brief History of Neoliberalism and The Strange Non-Death of Neoliberalism. harvey's the devil i know in this case, but his book on the neoliberal conquest of the world is the oldest and presumably least up to date. significantly, it predates the 2008-???? crisis (although im familiar with his thoughts on that from some of his online lectures and from reading The Enigma of Capital)
Neoliberalism has been deadly in China, lifting millions into the middle class. Terrible stuff.
Have you read any Jagdish Bhagwati essays on neoliberalism?
Modern economics is apologia for a religion that worships a fictional deity called the Free Market and his only son, the Invisible Hand.
Sounds a lot like how Christians dismiss evolution; to wit:
Modern atheism is apologia for a religion that worships a fictional deity called Evolution and his only son, Charles Darwin.
When Christians comment on something they know nothing of and understand even less, it's boundless idiocy but when leftists comment on economics - a subject they are equally ignorant of - it's back-slappingly ok?
Stick to physics, Vivec.
Wait wait wait, let me get this straight.
You've responded to my quip about how economics is apologia for right wing philosophy...by saying only right wingers understand economics. If this was an attempt to portray the current state of economic as a objective, non-partisan field of study, you've failed miserably.
You may as well have said "EVERYONE WHO DISAGREES WITH ME POLITICALLY SIMPLY DOESN'T UNDERSTAND ECONOMICS." But I guess you wanted to phrase things differently, since right wing tv economists say the same thing every day.
I mean this must have taken some serious skill here. Your response to "economics is filled with right wing apologia" is to further that sentiment by saying that economics supports right wing ideology.
Brillaint, Ender. Brilliant.
No, centrists also understand it.
What's also brilliant is that you make a lazy generalisation, a swipe at something you don't actually understand, then get pissy when someone does the same.
You must be mistaken to think my ridiculing of your poorly thought-out retort was 'getting pissy.'
EDIT: Admit it, it was bad.
So you don't think it's getting pissy, you think it's hypocritical.
Wonder what it'll be in your next response.
i hate to say it but he's got you there, vivec
My favorite Friedman quote.
