Can one person have more than one username on the JCC?

I was asking thais qustiopn because I have noticed a lot of "Sequel users" (ex. Mace_WindyII) around here and was asking if one person can have two usernames. Anything I can get on the subject would be a lot of help to me.

If you have two usernames then one is called a sock.

The one you use the most is your main ID and your other one is your sock.

Socks are "illeagal" If you are banned and you use the sock to post, I think you could lengthen your bann.

Socks for game banns are ok I think as long as you use them only when you are banned from a game.

Untrue. Socks are fine to use within reason, and posting while banned usually doubles a ban length.

 

That's what he was saying. He said you're not allowed to use socks while your main username is banned for punishment.

 

Socks are not all bad. If you are playing a game were you can get banned for 24 hours you can use a sock. Because you only got banned form said game. Exmaple Mafia you can also use a sock for RPG games in the RPG forum. There are also sometimes such as Helloween where somepeople use a sock just to be different. They are not all bad.

But if you are banned for flaming, spamming, or trolling well like KW said that will only make you ban even longer.

No- you can use the same email address. But from reading about its best not to use hotmail accounts as i've heard that there has been problems between this site and hotmail i.e. not working sometimes. Unless this has been fixed?

I also was under the impression that you guys had decided to limit it about a year ago. Is that over with?

 

I think it was determined that the Hotmail bug can be fixed by turning on your junk mail filter.

 

You can have as many socks as you want to have, but you can only have three active socks at once.

And you'll (pretty much) only get called on that rule if you're using your 3+ socks to be a pain in the butt.

Even then, in practice that 'rule' is hardly ever invoked, and usually if you're breaking rules with a multitude of socks, it'll be the behaviour that causes punishment, rather than the number of socks.

There are cases though when some users try and register hundreds and hundreds of socks. In cases like that, the "3 sock rule" may be invoked to try and get people to be sensible.
