Yes but in the Star Wars universe, which is a far more interesting setting than the Trek Milky Way

That's fair enough, but you can pretty much do whatever you want in either galaxy anyway when it comes to exploring new regions. I guess if it was Star Wars you could have Jedi and lightsabers being the main difference.

Occasionally, Jedi stuff would come up, the Force and what not, but I'd like to explore the scientific side of the galaxy. Even though everyone says no; science is still their.

There's definitely room for it. Just because it's not classically what Star Wars is about doesn't mean it wouldn't be a viable concept.

I wouldn't mind Jedi scientists as a series either. I honestly think it would be quite fascinating.

My brother once told me he was sure the Borg would be able to adapt defenses to the Force, because it's just an energy field (as described by Obi-Wan Kenobi).

Well, in the EU that's what the ysalamiri did... :p

Besides if I were the Borg, I'd just assimilate some Jedi, then soon all Borg will be able to use the Force (presumably they'd duplicate midichlorians and pump it into all Borg who go into their regeneration chambers). And rewrite their DNA to make all Borg force sensitive.

I do think the Borg would be unable to grasp the more mystical or supernatural aspects of the force. Though they would likely be interested in these aspects all the same.

How exactly would the Borg be impressed by any mystical or supernatural aspects of the Force? Because there are Force ghosts?

In Doctor Who, a Time Lord control bracelet was able to be used to bring a little boy back to life (episode "Death in Heaven"). If the Force were brought into Star Wars, I think it would get the same treatment the Prophets and Pah Wraiths did in DS9--the Bajorans see them as Gods, everyone else sees them as wormhole aliens.

The Borg and Starfleet would probably classify the Force as an energy field that is able to preserve memories and consciousness after death. This wouldn't be any more mystical to them than Spock transferring his katra to someone else, regenerating his deceased body via protomatter and Genesis planet, then transferring it back for the illusion of "resurrection".

It is an energy field, but being eternal and possessing a will of its own, it is definitely not just an energy field.

Vulcan katras are eternal and possess wills of their own, but Vulcans get assimilated all the same. Resistance is futile. ;)

For what it's worth, I didn't agree with my brother on this. Although my reasoning for Wars winning vs Trek was that their hyperdrives were faster (can cross the galaxy in minutes compared with slow ships like Voyager) and Wars starships were bigger. He'd then counter with 'Size matters not'.

Neither do I, although at least in Legends I think there is precedent for a semi-similar idea - in Dark Empire, wasn't Luke transported to the resurrected Emperor inside some sort of "Jedi cage" that used an energy field to disrupt attempts to use the Force by the imprisoned Jedi? Or am I imagining that?

Just in Legends? I'm fairly certain Dooku used such a field on Kenobi in Geonosis in AOTC...

Yeah, it was called a "Universal Energy Cage", designed by that nutjob Umak Leth.

It's interesting that both Trek and Wars have an entity called the "Guardian of Forever" even if the entities are somewhat different.
