    No offence, but you haven't been here long, have you?

    Says someone with a username from Sep 02... (Ok, conceding the fact that you use OMG for JC, and thus we know the JC isn't your only message board ;) , but the point is, don't judge a poster by their reg date.)

    Trolling is more along the lines of deliberately going into the "OFFICIAL Like Mike Fan Thread" and saying "Like Mike sucked" etc. It's deliberatley goading for attention, like cetera said, but usually negative attention.

    Before you say my example was an example of flaming, flaming, (which hasn't been discussed) shares some attributes with trolling, but is generally more personal.

    One of the definitions of Spamming is posting the same thing over and over again, but it's usually posting the same ad or the same rubbish e.g.
    asfnwoeng;wljngiouwouwewaoe#########33oainowue
    over and over to make a chatroom unpleasant.

    Not contributing to a conversation is spamming on the JC, but the real problem lately has come up in a definition between "spamming" and "community building fluff"

    Nope, that's SPAM and has been since the old BitNET days and when the term came into popular use after AOL allowed they're members to post on USENET groups in the early 90's.

    This is true, but Qui-Gon-Jim used the wrong form of the word "their". "They're" is a contraction for "they are". :)

    We'll call it even since you used dashes in my username instead of underscores. ;)

    Don't make me get out my red grammar magic marker.

    "A moderator never closes a thread because they disagree with the thought."

    No offence, but you haven't been here long, have you?

    Well, that time may never return again. Not until we see fewer threads complaining about mod actions, at least.

    Let's not mix-up calling mods into accountibility, with complaining.

    Thank you, Lady_Lucas. :)

    Usually the most logical people are the ones that agree with you. ;)

    You are just silly Qui-G. I think I might have to whip out my light saber and play duel of fates with you. Hey, I'll be Obi-Wan and you can be Darth Maul ok?? ;)

    As long as we can finish it the way it should've where Maul blocks that pitiful swipe by Obi Wan and goes on to defeat him with his superior skills. 8-}

    Now this is off-topic posting.

    Fun, isn't it? ;)

    I say enjoy the off-topicness until a mod arrives...or drag it back on topic if you really want to, but there's no fun in that.

    But since I keep pointing out the off-topicness, doesn't that technically keep it on topic? ;)

    Now that was on-topic.

    Now that was on-topic.

    no, because it wasn't about spam, but it's ok being off topic because the thread wasn't deliberately hi jacked for someone to recieve attention...
    i think that's the new mandate

    I think it might have been vaguely on-topic since the original post was referring to off-topic or meaningless responses. 8-}

    Man, I love semantics.

    Are there any other mildly important topics that need derailed by failed attempts at humour, or was it just this one? Seriously... this is communications, you wanna be a joker, Community is just a few clicks away.

    Indecent, you can shove it. I don't need a slacker telling me what to do.
