C is correct! You guys really know your history and I think that's great! I am learning alot myself about Canadian history I never knew. As you probably know it is pretty typical in American schools to learn only American history(unfortunatly). I've always loved European history and study that on my own, especially France. I like learning all this Canadian stuff also! :)

Ok next.... Which group opposed conscription(drafting) more during World War I, the English speaking Candians or French Candians?

The french ! Also one of the many reasons for confedaration is economic its way easier to have one country instead of 4 little countries, its makes trade easier !

So good! You are right! Alright, I'll try to be a little tougher ;)

Let's see... What native Canadian group(unpolitically correct, Indians) did King Louis XIV in 1663 set out to fight in Canada(known as New France a royal province), to gain the land?

Good questions. I just wanted to add one thing though...

"Native Canadian" is politically incorrect, and equally offensive to the people in question as the word "Indian". The proper term in Canada is "First Nations."

Thank you. You know the term changes every few years it seems I can hardly keep up! :) I'll remember that though.. First Nations! Thanks. Here, I think Native American is still politically correct...I think.

Ok next question: In 1949 what Province became the 10th province of Canada?

    Killed him.

God bless Trudeau, who handled that situation wonderfully.

Yes, "Native American" is still acceptable in the USA.

That's cool Kit. My husband's great-grandfather was a major officer(captain) in WWII for France. It's neat to learn about what your family did in the past. It's important to remember them.

    You are right Admiral(as usual ;) )!

    Ok next question:

Ranking the Canadian army from top to bottom fill in the two missing blanks.

    1.General
    2.Lieutenant-general
    3.__________________
    4.Brigadier-general
    5.Colonel
    6.Lieutenant-colonel
    7.____________
    8.Captain
    9.Lieutenant
    10. Second Lieutenant

    I'll handle this one. :D

I was in 243 RCACS for 5 years, and completed my CIC course. I taught classes on the rank structure of the Canadian Forces to Junior Cadets. This question is way too easy. :p

    1.General
    2.Lieutenant-general
    3.Major-General
    4.Brigadier-general
    5.Colonel
    6.Lieutenant-colonel
    7.Major
    8.Captain
    9.Lieutenant
    10. Second Lieutenant

Second Lieutenant (pronounced Leftenant in Canada) is NOT the "bottom" of Canada's Land Force. Below 2Lt is Officer Cadet. And, that's only the Officer ranks. The Non-Commissioned Member (NCM) ranks are as follows:

    Cheif Warrant Officer
    Master Warrant Officer
    Warrant Officer
    Sergeant
    Master Corporal
    Corporal
    Private
    Private Recruit

Officers are the ones that lead, or are being trained to lead. NCMs is everyone else, such as mechanics, drivers, operators, etc.

    EDIT: Spelling

    Legoman is correct.

Since Canada only has 10 provinces, the average Canadian can recite all the capitals by the age of 10.

Here's one that's slightly more challenging:

Name the racist organization in British Columbia dedicated to keeping asians out during the early part of the 20th century. Bonus points if you can name the famous ship that was refused access, causing the deaths of many because of disease.

    legoman is awesome! :)

    Well I can tell you that the average American can recite 10 out of 50 capitals by age 20. 8-}

I don't know the answer to your question....what group was it?

And for the next question....In 1778 James Cook landed on ________ Island?

    Vancouver Island. BC boy, here!

Next question: Describe the system that was used to divide the land up for farming in New France along rivers.

Yay, Vancouver Island! (Victoria girl, here!)

The farming thing...I recall learning that in school, but darned if I can remember what it's called.

It's the system where the land was in long, thin strips so that every property touched a little bit of the St. Lawrence river. It got even more sub-divided as land was divided between male heirs.

    Correct, Rani.

    Malkie: United States of America

On what Normandy beach did Canadians land on D-Day? Bonus points if you can name the site of their earlier invasion attempt, that ended in failure.

United States of America also has 3 A's. Australia has 3, and Saudi Arabia has 4. Union of Soviet Socialist Republics has 4 O's and 3 E's (I badly need a new map). Malaysia has 3 A's. Madagascar has 4 A's. Philippines has 3 I's. Afghanistan has 3 A's. Just to name a few.
