Eeek. Spiders! We have a couple massive crab spiders on the back deck, my step-dad refuses to kill them because 'they eat all the bugs and flies". I'm like, I'd rather have the bugs and flies.

I hope you feel better, Trak. I'm feeling kinda blah too, so it's going to be an early night for me.

 

I like crab spiders. They're often colored to match the plant they hang out on. I've seen orange, white, yellow, pink, and green crab spiders. And they sit motionless, so they can be observed closely.

I also like jumping spiders. So much personality in such a tiny, fuzzy-wuzzy cute little package!

Anywho, time to pop in another DVD for some noise while I veg on the couch with the cat.

 

The first ever Salt Lake Comic Con is this week, starting tomorrow (my ticket is for Saturday), and they just announced that Stan Lee is gonna be there! This is so cool! The guest list is pretty amazing.

 

Wow. Stan Lee. Now, there's a guy that I'd like to see talk. Have fun!

 

Went to the pharmacy for a couple prescriptions. Should have been 15-20 minutes.

Took AN HOUR AND A HALF.

 

Wow, that really sucks. I've had that happen to me a few times. I've since discovered how to phone in my prescriptions.

So, I had all my classes today and right now, I feel kinda like "well, I guess I'll be reading textbooks for the next 3 months". There goes my life.

 

I don't miss that feeling about school!

That being said, I've been looking at Master's programs in Emergency Management. I'm involved with my hospitals HazMat team, I'm in the process of being on the Federal Disaster Medical Assistance Team (they just approved my medical credentials , next week I have to get fingerprinted!) and I'm going to a FEMA/Center for Domestic Preparedness' "Hospital Emergency Response Training for Mass Casualty Incidents" in November and I'm realizing I really like this stuff!

That sounds really interesting. I was never cut out for a job in medicine (though I really did consider doing the radiology program here), but I find all that stuff fascinating.

As much as I dislike some parts of school, I've realized it's better than being in the 'real world', just yet.

So, I just found out a friend of mine that I've known since I was like 10, is engaged. I'm not sure whether to feel old (I sat beside these two in grade 10 math) or just happy I'm not dumb, young and in love (those these two are a bit sensible, hopefully they won't get married till they're done their undergrad degrees). I just personally think people shouldn't get married till their 25 or so, before then, your just hormonal and dumb.

 

Spent all day sick in bed. Felt better at MIDNIGHT.

I got up, had coffee, and got dressed. I intend to stay up.

 

TrakNar: good luck! I couldn't sleep at all so I got up. It's now 7am and I'm playing poker between films. I don't play for money or anything and I'm not that good, but it's fun.

 

Almost 3 am now, and I have Ren & Stimpy on. I may work on an audioplay for a bit and then debate on whether or not I should go back to bed.

 

I hate days like that. I've had a couple where I've had migraines so I knock myself out after dinner and I wake up at like midnight WIDE AWAKE.

I kinda want to strangle my brother. His bedroom is right above mine and we have been having this 'fan war' all summer. He likes to sleep with this huge fan on, but it shakes the floor, which shakes my ceiling making this horrible high pitched humming noise (WHY HE CAN'T SLEEP WITH HIS WINDOW OPEN IS BEYOND ME). Usually I pop in earbuds till he falls asleep, then I go up and turn it off. BUT THE BUGGER HAS HIS DOOR LOCKED TONIGHT. Thankfully I have Fridays off, but I swear I'm going to smash that fan.

 

Got TCW on for noise as I work on this audioplay. Good god, working from a direct translation is messy. And there's so much derailment with this one character that I'm adding new lines to reel them back in. I know that many purists would absolutely abhor any type of change to the source material, but when the sentence structure is so clunky that you can hear the thud and results in acting so wooden that it'd give you splinters, changes need to be made. They especially need to be made for stuff lost in translation and scenes not adequately explained.

Also, there is a ton of redundant wording, repeated sentences, and lines of dialogue that trip over its own feet for being so circular. Lots of cutting of fat in this.

 

People are hormonal and dumb after 25, too.

 

Yeah, I don't think any one age group, those just hitting puberty aside, has a real monopoly on hormonal stupidity.

 

Screw it. I need sleep. I'm crawling into bed and I'm getting some sleep.

As for hormonal stupidity... It's not just hormones that cause stupidity, including the stupidity of rushing into a relationship that doesn't work.

But, I'm too tired to think about that now. TO BED!

 

I feel horrible. I think I am having a weird reaction to my new meds. My mouth is dry all the time and I am tired and confused...more so than normal. Blah.

Story time! They say you learn something new every day. My grandmother called to talk to me about Comic Con tomorrow and some other stuff, one of which being the works of Stan Lee.

Once upon a time, my father had both a comic book collection and a porn addiction. My dad, in hiding his porno mags from my mom, tore up a bunch of his comic books, kept the covers and put the porn between the covers. When he cleared out his stuff back in the mid ’90s, he gave us two long boxes of classic X-Men, Avengers, etc comics (no porn). One thing we found was the front half of the Spiderman #1 comic. Back in 1998, we were horrified because it was worth $88k.

One of the things my grandmother called to tell me was that an issue of Spiderman #1 apparently sold at auction recently for $7.9 million.

Basically, what I learned today is that my dad, in an effort to keep his girlie magazines stashed, tore up $7 million.

I . . . don't think I'm going to tell him.

I think my body is adjusting to a slightly-better sleep schedule. It's 4 am and I'm dead tired. This is a good sign. I shall go to bed and hopefully get up at a decent time.

 

How did he do that? I thought Comic books were smaller than porno magazines. Did he cut down the pages to fit a comic? I would think that would be the worst place to put porn. You would think the kids would be into his comic collection.

I got off my medication, slept for 18 hours and I am still tired. I do feel slightly better and the dry mouth went away. I need to tell the doctor on Monday. I don't need the meds. They are to control chronic pain. I rather have the pain than fall asleep at the wheel and drive off the road...which I almost did twice.

 

Maybe he was hiding the comic books in the porn magazines. I mean, it would be really embarrassing if your wife found out you were into comic books.
