    Sounds fun! :D

I can't decide between Nigel Tufnel and Sterling Archer for my Halloween costume. Either one will be a blast, though!

I'm going to be a zombie soldier, enhancing the look with a pair of old glasses that look like military-issue ones, with the right lens drilled out and with my face made up so as to appear as though I've been shot through the eye.

Coooool! How are you planning on blacking out your eye, though? Patch over it? That'll give you depth perception issues, so you probably don't want to drive.

    This. Made my day.

People are always asking me to be R2D2 or professor x. I think I might give in and be r2 this year, I have a tee shirt and a hat. I'd be professor x but bald caps are expensive. Plus I got too much hair.

I can't drive anyway so it shouldn't be a problem, though cycling might be iffy; also, I'm left-eye dominant so depth perception has always been an issue hence why it's the right eye being covered. I do plan to use some sort of patch (the icky kind, heh) and I've already got the uniform, which is a U.S. Army one from the late 80s to late 90s that I put together myself. Got most or all the gear, too.

I have a backup costume sitting in my closet. I just need a better mask for it. I'd like to get a nice articulated mask.

I hate masks. I just don't like things touching my face. I'm in class most of Halloween, so I'm going with something minimal. Worst comes to worst, I just tell people I'm Barbra Gordon/the Oracle :p

I have twin brothers, so I will NEVER forget the time the older one dressed up as the younger. He just put on his brother's clothes and told people he was dressed up as his brother. It was hilarious. I'm always trying to get them to be Mario and Luigi, but they never go for it.

I love masks. I love heavy, bulky, restricting costumes. I love wearing something that I'll end up suffering heat stroke in, or passing out from lack of oxygen. I love wearing something that I can't see out of, can't sit in, can barely walk in, and woe help me if I ever need to use the bathroom! If the 501st ever needed someone who would willingly be stuffed into a bucket for hours at a time, I'm that someone.

Though, this Halloween, I'm running short on time to build a decent costume. Though, I do have an armor build planned.

I live in the UK so I'm guessing I'm further away! :p Getting there should be easy though. There's a bus from one of the Reno airports to the site, so all I need to do is get to Reno.

We should all go next year!

Wait, you mean you're not crazy?

I'd do something for Halloween but I'm not allowed. Last year my mum even made me put up 'no trick or treating' signs at our house. Kinda sucks as there are some young kids in the area now and the year before last they came knocking. I gave them a cupcake each. :(

You couldn't pay me to go to Burning Man. I once spent a week training at Sierra Army Depot (about 60 miles southwest of the Burning Man area) and swore I would never return to that desert ever! I was positive it was the worst location in the US. I was allergic to something in the air and I remember swarms of flying ants that were horrible. And it was hot! Yuck! I did like Reno, though. I was put up in a casino hotel. When I got back from training I never left that air conditioned building. I am sure the festival is nice and I would go if it took place on the beaches of San Diego. :D

For the record, the sheltered Canadian had to look up what Burning Man was. Take from that what you will.

    So did I. :p

On another note, when are we going to get a NaNo thread for 2013? I'm seriously considering giving it a shot for the first time.

    Same here.

And I'm certainly willing to put up the NaNo thread for this year...seems like this would be the time to do it.

Mav typically does the Nano thread and she's going to put it up in a few days, but if you would like to do it, PM her and ask if you can do it.

I have no plans to attempt NaNo this year. My muse is dead. Dead and buried. I need a zombie plague to revive it. An undead muse is better than nothing.

I don't write on a Nano-schedule, so I've never been tempted to try that brand of insanity. And I'm visiting family in November, so I'd never be able to keep up with the schedule.

My big accomplishment this year is getting 'Living History' finished and posted [face_dancing][face_party]a WIP that has been hanging around on my hard drive for literally years, all 90,000 words of it. Getting that one out in the e-world definitely boosts the confidence levels about getting those other story ideas out even it the writing goes reeeeeeeeaaaallllyyyy slowly.

I'm the type of writer where I edit as I go, and if I don't like something I immediately delete, go back and re-write. It makes me a slow writer, but often the first draft is the final draft (with the odd error). Nano isn't really my style, but that's why I've always wanted to try it. I wanna see what it is like to "just keep writing words', no matter how bad my writing is, and worry about it after. I REALLY want to do it, but november just sucks for students. I know some have done it, but that is just TOO much for me.

My muse and I aren't getting along right now. I would like to do some shorter stuff, possibly some vignettes or short stories, but all my muse is giving me is ideas for grand epics.

This is exactly me. I'm not sure if I can write without editing at the same time, but I want to try it.

I edit-as-I-go for fanfic, and largely for my novels, too. I'll do a draft, go through it again for errors and typos, have someone read through it, then I go over those suggestions, possibly change a line or two, and . . . that's about it, really.

I edit-as-I-go when I'm typing up the final draft. Prior to that, I edit when I reread my handwritten draft, so all of my written drafts are covered in rewritten and scratched-out stuff.

I always do several read throughs once I'm done and get someone to read it, but very rarely does more than a few words get changed. Maybe I have a bit of OCD or something, but I CAN NOT leave an awkward sounding sentence be until I figure out how to word it, even if it takes me days. I think it might drive me insane to just write without editing. It's sad that I can't try it this year, but every November is going to be crazy for me for the forseeable future. I was going to try JuNo (basically Nano, but in July - it's much smaller, but there is still somewhat of a community) this year, but my muse wasn't having it, then Darth Cancer and Darth Death came by and killed my muse. Perhaps next July.
