I turned off all of my alarm clocks. I get to sleep in tomorrow because it is a snow day. Be careful on your drive to the doctor Gemma.

Jedi_Lover - thank you. My area is not calling for snow for tomorrow- but we had a little over the weekend --- but I am dreading be out in the wind and low temps tomorrow. I had heart surgery in 2011(and yeah I win the prize in my family for being the youngest to have had it) and every since then my circulation to my hands and feet is not so good. I have never liked the cold winters and now I hate them even more. I'm good at temps like 50 degrees and up as long as the humidity is not too high. I have a lot of parts that no longer work right. Nurses are always amazed at what I'm been through when they read my chart. Hope you and yours can enjoy the day off.

Cat's are definitely creatures of habit and take their routines very very seriously.

Yes the kitties do seen to have a routine -- but what is strange to me is when they change it. Max pictured on the previous page has never been a lap kitty and this past week his has been auditioning for it. He has spent time in both my lap and my Mom's and now he either lays by one of us on the couch. He's my cat and Jade usually lays in my Mom's lap but lately he's be ousting her.

I had a cat break into my room this morning. It's the only reason I got up at 9. I still have no idea how she did it as it was properly closed and I don't have a door handle she can dangle from and open that way.

She was just so desperate to be pet that she used her cat magic to open the door.

Cats are good at that. My grandma's cat breaks into the bathroom and the basement that way. I've also seen one of my childhood cats open a door by jumping up and turning the knob.

My apartment's doorknobs are cat-friendly, so if Mabel wanted to break into my closet, she could.

QuickEdit: Mabel just figured out how to open a drawer.

These ones aren't cat friendly though, and I've never seen any of my cats jump at door handles. It was mostly "what? how did a cat get in? and now she's stuck on the curtain?" so I had to get up. :(

    moosemousse has a cat burglar.

My fat cat scared me one day. The exterior doorknob was jiggling just like in those scary movies where the monster is trying to get it…but because it didn't have an opposable thumb it was having trouble. Well, it looked like somebody was trying to get in the house, but my front door has glass on the top part and I didn't see anybody there. I went to the door and looked down and saw the cat hanging from the doorknob. I guess he really wanted to come inside.

Everyone with the last kitty posts --- you all have me laughing so hard I'm almost crying --- (I know it does not take too much to entertain me --sometimes -- I think it's because I'm part kitty).

moosemousse -- I can almost see your cat hanging from the curtain (what's your kitty's name and do you have a pic of him or her?
TrakNar -- I have actually watched my Max stand against the basement door and my front door and put both paws on the knob and do the dance with his paws on the knob and occasionally he gets the basement one because it's a very old house and when he bangs on the knob the door will pop. Drawers and the underneath of my kitchen sink and the breadbox drawer --- OMG --- I have to watch Max like a hawk when any of these are open. He will dart under the sink and I have a terrible time trying to extract him from amongst everything that is stored there and all the time I know he is just laughing at me. And drawers --- when I open one --- he is either trying to swing off the drawer which he would probably break and the bread box drawer -- he thinks there's burried treasure in there. His little eyes just get this glee when that drawer is opened or I pop the door for under the sink -- the look is like - Oh it's open, and he takes off like roadrunner at 90mph hoping he gets there before you see him. I wish I had a vid of that.
Jedi_Lover --- I don't know which cat of yours did the hangin thing --- but it sounds absolutely histerical. That pic would almost be as good as the look on some my neighbors' faces when I either ring the bell or knock on the door for them to let their cat in when I am passing by and hearing the cat meow and pace in front of the door (in the winter). My Max and Jade are not outdoor kitties although sometimes they try and sneak out.

My sister's cat is an outdoor cat. Our neighbor has a problem with mice in her garden, so she loves him. My Aggie has gotten in the habit of trying to sneak out the past 2 days. This morning she made it into the carport before I got her. I think it may be time to get out the water-spritzer.

So I had one of those WHAT THE HELL? moments this evening. I went past the main bathroom and saw my one brother trying to pick a zit on the other's back. To make the scene 100 times weirder, both cats were on the toilet (Hurcule was on the tank and Aggie was on the seat - the lid was down), watching intently. A few minutes later my brothers were blowing raspberries at each-other and the cats were still sitting there, watching. I'm still confused and I'm not sure I want to know what was going on.

Briannakin -- well My first kitty, Mr. Stash --- caught an astounding 42 mice the first year we had him --- meaning he caught this many in about a year. I live in what you call a rowhome or rowhouse --- so the mice can literally travel under the sandy bases of the walls that connect the houses. It's a bit creepy and we had traps every where until we got Stash -- after his catch of 42 -- the word got out -- Big Bad Kitty in that house stir clear. We have only see very small evidence since 1994 that mice are in our basements --- we don't allow the kitties there because of Dad's fishing work shop because of all the hooks there.

As for the cats watching your brothers --- Max and Jade almost always want to the the center of attention. Max thinks I am ingoring him when I'm on line and I had to put cable wire protective shields about the wires as he would chew on them. And if I am doing paperwork -- like balancing the checkbook -- oh it's then when either wants in my lap. And my Mom's Sheltie used to sit poised to watch her every time she would put lipstick on. I told my Mom I think he's watching you like he's learning how so when it's his turn. I love animals.

The polar vortex is now my sons' best friend ever. Another snow day due to extreme cold temperatures. They called late this morning and I guess I was in the bathroom and didn't hear it. I had their lunches packed, breakfast made, and the kids in their uniforms before my husband woke up and told me school was cancelled.

Well they can enjoy it now -- and I prayer for them that they never break any bones or stress any tendons which become weather detectors for them. Hugs to them. --- I've never gone to bed from yesterday as I have been up sick from 3AM and am still sick.

Gemma: she wasn't hanging from it. I'm not sure what she was trying to do but she was sitting on my sewing table with one claw caught in the curtain. And this is her, and her name is Felix:

I captioned it "draw me like one of your French girls". :D

And this is Morgan, because I saw his picture while I was looking for a picture of Felix and I miss him. :_|

@moosemousee --- Oh -- I was so sorry when you said Morgan was. He was utterly handsome. And WOW Felix --she's a pretty fluffy one.

You made me want to share my one that is in Kitty Heaven --- My Mr. Stash -- short for My Moustache or my stash. He was smuggled into my parents home as a stash inside my sisters coat as we were not allowed to have cats - we believed we were allerpic -- found out only to short hair --- the long hairs we can tollerate. He was 15 days old and we nursed him to cathood. We had him for 14 years until 2010: he was also known as the Furry King Cobra. I miss him so much too -- they each have a personality. We called him Stash because of his perfect mustache -- it's a little pale in this pic was his mustache was perfectly ecthed on both side and if you look hard his chin has the same color gotee. Furry King Cobra -- he had all his claws always and when he was done playing with you -- you got one and I mean one little warning meow and if you played for one more second - STRIKE -- he would nail you; but you always got warned with that little growl meow first.

Yeah I know -- I have been thinking that myself but I can't help myself. My loves in life - my parents and sis, SW - my kitties present and past (And Aliens-- I had to have something to tide me over when SW went on Hiatus and see I was right - it was a Hiatus -- I truly never doubted it -- I had calced it would be back in 2017-really). Mr. Stash was our first kitty -- so I was a wreck when we lost him and jobless and had asked God to not take Stash from me until I had a job again. I landed a job having first interview before his death and 2nd one a week after and got that job. Unfortunately my health took a nose dive in 2011 and I'm jobless again because of it. But I have all my docs on deck and eventually we will find the meds to make me whole again --- or I will live enough for the replacement parts I need (part of me is joking and not).

I was also told by a dear friend of mine - now gone way too soon -- that I'm a warped puppy. (I love horror movies too, but I don't think people would be into that here). I told her thank you -- I know. But I think I'm a warped fuzzy kitty really. We have not had a dog -- since we started out as dog people --- since 2006 -- Mom has a back back and hip --- and I won't entail you with all of my problems --- it's a thick medical chart; so we decided that when the last dog went -- we would stick to cats since they don't need to be walked and Max gets his exercise by chasing Jade (who has finally learned) he just wants to play --- he's not a horny Beast.

Stash was raised by Ms. Pepper (Schipperke mix with Spitz) and she hated cats. When we introduced her to Stash as a 15 day old kitten she rolled him over on his back bathed him from stem to stern and then jumped up and carried him off. I yelled Oh NO, Mom she tasted him and now she's run off to eat the tender morsel. She loved him like he was hers. He never barked though -- and only learned kitty meows at the age of five from listening to the casts at the window. But he trilled all of the time from kitten up. I miss both Pepper and Stash --- but we do have a CD of his trilling which I love to hear from time to time and a vid of them tusseling on a bed. Good times. Sorry my posts have been long of late -- I'm in chatty kathy mode.

    Yes, yes they are! :p

No worries about long posts, Gemma! I hope your doctors can get things to work for you!

So I work in a Burn Unit and we've had very few patients that needed my care for months. Suddenly in the last week we've gotten a bunch, the last two days have been the don't sit down for the majority of 12 hours and eat what you can shove in your face in five minutes kind of days, I'm exhausted! (I walked 8 miles at work on Monday and 6 miles yesterday). But the thing that really gets me is because I was so busy I missed our department meeting and now I have to go in on my day off -at 7:30 in the morning- to go to one or I get in trouble. I like horror movies but not some of these movies that only use gore to scare people. I liked Silence of the Lambs, The Exorcist, Psycho, Halloween, The Omen, The Thing or Rosemary's Baby. I didn't like the SAW movies because I think they relied too much on gore to scare people. There wasn't much of a story with those movies.

mavjade, that isn't right. If you have to work through the meeting then somebody should just brief you on what was said. That is bogus making you come in on your day off.

moosemousse that first photo of your cat is hysterical. That is some Pussycat. lol! The Pussycat theater was the name of the rated X theater in my hometown (this was before the internet). She looks like she is trying to proposition a tomcat.

I love horror movies. Slasher flicks, zombie flicks, monster movies, mindscrews, squick flicks, occult, Lovecraftian, gothic, love them. Torture porn... eh, I need to be in certain mood to watch it, though I've watched more than a few Saw movies, and the first Hostel. I love Asian horror, love psychohorror, and enjoy a good splatterpunk every now and then.

Then again, I'm a bit twisted.

I agree, but for everyone we miss it goes on our yearly evaluation, no matter what, they are mandatory. Last year I had planned on going to the last one for that month (they do hold several in the week) and I got a stat page and couldn't go. I call our charge therapist to see if someone could cover my patient while I went and was told there was no one. Come my eval this year I was told, "Well, you missed one department meeting." I was not very happy. (But they didn't ding me for missing the day when MA police told everyone in my town to not leave their house because there was a massive manhunt going on for the marathon bomber only a couple of miles from my house. I considered that a win because I was all ready to argue if they tried to say anything to me about it.)

I will get paid for the time I'm actually there... probably about 30-45 minutes, but of course not paid for the almost an hour of travel time to get there and back (and it's only that short because I can drive since it will be over so early) not to mention the sleeping in I'm not going to get to do. ;)

Hm. My muse has been dead in terms of writing, but I've done more paintings than usual. So, it's alive somewhere! I've got a painting on my desk I need to finish, and I'm plotting another one. Various sketches and finished pics have also made their way across my drafting table, with more on the way.

My muse lives in some form!

Now, if only I can get it to write.

Chain your Muse to the bed and tell it "I'm your number one fan…now get writing!"

EDIT: After a week of snow days the kids are finally back to school!!! :D
